think about it, the ps3 would sell even better in europe and japan.
japan, they would probably sell around 90,000 to 100,000 a week leaving the 360 at 4,000 units a week still.
in europe, the ps3 would start to outsell it by around 80,000 a week again.
and in america, the ps3 would PROBABLY outsell by 20,000 at most because its only being outsold by about 30,000 a week at the moment and microsoft wouldnt want sony gaining THAT much ground all the ...
and microsoft will have to decide if they wanna cut it by 100 NOW and have no price cuts during the holidays going up against all sonys big games.
or cut it by 50(which is what i think are thier original plans for gta)

so they fumbled around with different sku's. hence coming to the 40 gig, 400$ dollar sku figuring out that the AVERAGE consumer doesnt realize anything about whats inside each sku but all they see is a cheap price and they know it plays games.
NOW they realize that since 400 was a good price, they could make a 120 gig at that price and a 300 dollar 40 gig and they will both sell like crazy. (the 80 gig will sell to the more informed consumer while the 40 sells to the cheap cons...
i said in a comment, that i think sony will drop the 80 gig and drop the 40 gig to 299.99 and thier will be a 120 gig at either 400 or 450.(no lower, no higher than that)(i said they would around febuary or EARLY MARCH)

remember.............sony is the number 1 hardware company in the world, the reduced cost of the ps3 from 800 to 400. that means they were making profit off of every ps3 sold.
