"To summarise the reasoning: Intel got it wrong with larabee, IBM got it wrong with the cell, Nvidia got it very right with tesla and the new gt300 gpu's"
Problem is....we have no idea what the gt300 will do as they are paper launched and no benchmarks behind it. On paper it sounds good, however paper does not equate to real world performance. I am stoked about the possibilities of the new upcoming gt300 series however to say they got it right when the product is not ev...
Tis is not biggie. IBM simply decided to move on for business reasons. The Cell Processor did not expand beyond the market they intended. IBM was expecting the Cell to be implemented in many devices outside of the PS3. This did not happen. Time to move on
Nvidia is already doing this
You might be waiting some time for that Nvidia card. Looks like it coming in 2010
You might be waiting a while for that Nvidia card to come out. It won't be here until 2010 and by then based on the time table of GPU releases, ATI/AMD will release their next GPU. Fermi is still a no show
3D gaming is already out by Nvidia. This is not exactly NEW news here.
The tech is here for all consoles and the PC if they want to.
You can run Crysis and Crysis Warhead(and Crysis Warhead looks better) at that Resolution in Crossfire with two 5870.
It's not fear at this point because ATI knows Fermi will not be seen until next year. Also this release of the dual GPU is exactly what they did with the 4870 series to the letter.
The reality is by the time Fermi comes to retail, ATI will already have a faster version of the 5000 series in waiting.
Which in the end is great for all consumers because this competition will keep prices down and make the Red and Green team fight more for consumer cash. Win for us all.
We won't be seeing anything from the green team until 2010. It's all paper launch stuff
@champ21
With high end GPU's right now you can play most games at 2560x1600 with no memory issues.
@UPSLynx
unfortunately we won't be seeing anything from Nvidia anytime soon in regards to an actual GPU called Fermi in 2009 and early 2010. It's currently paper launched with no real hardware to be seen.

Crysis spoiled it for everyone for graphics this generation
This is why you should not take ANY review seriously from ANY site. They are just opinions. Play the game yourself.
It's simply AMAZING and I mean AMAZING that many will wait to see if a game gets a 9+ before they play it or buy it instead of PLAYING IT themselves.
This era has spawned a new class of lemmings.
From supporting broken hardware (Xbox360) to putting up with Sony's BS early on right back to Allowing MS to charge $100 for wireless N adapter....

Rip off price extraordinaire. No one should buy this and send the message to MS that they are screwing people.
Zedux considering you're a die hard Sony fanboy, your opinion is that of Sarah Palin. Means very little.
These graphics are some of the best for any console. Keep hating and reveal your true fanboy self. You're not a gamer. You're just a fanboy hater.
Why does anyone care if the PS3 outsells the Xbox360 or the Xbox360 outsells the PS3? None of you own the company. What do you care? Children
Seems more companies are jumping on the DX11 train then the DX 10 or DX10.1
This bodes well for ATI and people who are thinking to buy a shiny new GPU compliant dx11 Card
A Publication or "news source" that glorifies individuals such as Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reily and Rush Limbaugh should clue you in right away that this is not "news" but comedy hour with the three stooges.
@arakouftaian
You heed help. Crysis uses real time lighting effects. Where did you get your bankrupted information from? And sorry to burst your bubble, however MANY games before Killzone 2 and after Killzone 2 on the PC have used effects LIKE Killzone and or better.
I only have enough space here but i could go for days stating games that use real time lighting and HDR effects on NUMEROUS PC games even YEARS before Killzone 2 came out.
"5.3 -
...and most of the PCs can't either."
lol
Keep thinking that.
$150 GPU's can run most games that way right now
It's a good game engine. It's a bit dated but Valve's main goal with this engine was to allow as many PC's to run this game at decent levels as possible. They succeeded there.
The game looks good at maxed out levels.
