I understand why devs are disappointed with microsoft... I would be too.
When you reveal a game console, you gotta talk mainly about games. Sure mention other cool features, but focus on games. Keep the gaming industry a buzz, growing, happy, ... get publishers and developers to be a part of your new console reveal. Let everyone watching get excited for the gaming industry.
Microsoft had a shorter conference, and talked about games for less than half of it.....
nobody should be comparing ps4 and xbox one using only their reveal.
ps4 focused on games... but of course they'll have apps (netflix, youtube, nfl sunday ticket, youtube, +) and internet and much more and do it better than ps3.
xbox one focused on entertainment... but of course they'll have games to show and do it better than 360.
I'm sure both will have great entertainment and games...
However, I prefer the PS4 ...
for gaming, i just hope the consoles focus on 1080p smooth framerate (60fps) games accross the board. I think if they did, people would see a huge jump is quality from current gen consoles as most games run at 720p with limited aliasing and graphics capabilities.
Current gen still looks great, but 1080p + higher framerate + updated graphics will looks beautiful and crisp on everyone's 1080p capable TV.
for movies, sure... support 720p, 1080p, 4K, 3D.

... not to start a whole pc/console thing... but a few comments:
I understand that PC guys are frustrated. But they shouldn't be frustrated at consoles or console gamers (or gamers that game on pc and console). Some people just don't want to keep up a gaming pc.
Maybe PC gamers (who buy latest pc hardware), should be upset at companies like nvidia

Dee_Cazo, consoles are sold in other countries. Gamers do exist in other countries.
And nobody is putting xbox360 down, nevin1 just stated that microsoft didn't win (over sony... or anybody).
Who won this generation? Who cares. They both are pretty even and great consoles. But if you want to pick a winner based on sales, it's not XBox360.
it doesn't matter what nvidia says:
1. why are you comparing pc specs with console? just look at the ps3. does a game exist on he pc that looks as good as god of war - running with 256MB or system memory!
2. nvidia is either a baby because they didn't get in this generation of consoles... or they're taking a huge gamble in choosing to opt out of consoles. either way... he sounds like a grumpy old man

I agree with Tei777. KZ Shadow Fall is actual gameplay... the killzone demo shown at PS3 reveal was CGI rendering.
the comparison should be Shadow Fall against Killzone 2... and the comparison should be between 1080p videos and/or screenshots of the game. The difference will be even more noticeable when comparing at full resolution.
The points this article tries to make is just outright wrong. You cannot draw out conclusions in comparing specs on PS4 to specs on a PC.
Best example is the PS3 and a game like Uncharted 3 or God of War Ascension. It is impossible to find a game for the PC that will look anywhere near as good if you had a PC with 256MB of system memory. Even if you doubled the memory specs to 512MB, you would barely be able to run your computer with Windows 7 let alone be able to run a game ...

so what if you think some games suck. every generation is going to have games you think suck. don't paint a brush on the whole lot of games that have been released the past 6 years tho.
you better have a good reason to turn your back on your fans... and this is not a good reason.
developers work hard to get AAA titles and are pushing through and continuing to work on new great games. what makes cliffy so different? his fan base was mainly xbox fans, and he's just turning his back on them.
without getting into a discussion of which of his points we agree with or not, he is being selfish and ungrateful for the fans he has.

to add... are you saying you would have liked Battleship if it weren't for the cg? haha... that movie had failure written all over it. CG had nothing to do with it sucking.
Personally i think movies like star trek and 300 were awesome with cg... and even if you find a recent movie you like... chances are you'd prefer to watch it in HD or the theater.
And if you're one of those people that wait for a movie to come out ...

it doesn't sound like you are opposed to cg in movies... it sounds like you're opposed to bad movies trying to use cg to make it better.
inception has cg, lord of the rings, avatar, jurassic park, star trek, 300, matrix 1, ... they are all awesome.
CG is not the problem... bad everything else is the problem... and if everything else is awesome! the visuals can kill it if it sucks... so really... you need everything to be per...
yes... better visuals are always better... i dont know what to say dude... but how does better visuals not equal more fun? are you opposed to higher resolution screens? bluray? cg in movies? or are you happy with VHS quality puppeteering special effects movies?
totally disagree... there are a few generations you're missing between NES and PS3. The difference between PS2 and PS3 will be just as big a jump IMO as PS3 and PS4.
as far as comparing the platforms using screenshots that fill up half your screen... you will still notice a difference... but the difference will be even more if the screenshot was actually 1080p! better yet... even more of a difference if you're watching the VIDEOS running at FULL 1080p.
it's time for an upgrade in tech.
bottom line, PS3 can barely handle rendering games in 720p let alone upscale to 1080p. and when it does, it sacrifices a lot. Aliasing shadow clipping lighting issues. True 1080p games should look as clear and smooth as a pixar blu ray movie - 60fps at full native 1080p, and looking beautiful with Anti aliasing tessellation hd lighting ray tracing etc... that would be awesome! Some compare games like Battlefield or crysis on ps3 and pc a...

nintendo is selling their system cheaper, because it is a cheaper product. people always want more... and nintendo is holding on to their 480p wii limited functionality console... all because they marketed motion control so well and are milking the market for that one...

1. it costs more... 1k, 2k, 3k, 6k! depends on how good you want your rig.
2. with all the pc exclusives, when arguing FOR pc, none are mentioned. just multiplat games like battlefield and crysis. they are not the highlights for pc gaming (except RTS games)
