The souls series did not get its attention from an easy mode option. It got its attention because it stayed true to its format. The games are not hard Imo, they are unforgiving. Thus if you die you were unprepared, not paying attention or impatient. It takes strategy and discovery to win that is why it is so rewarding. If you require an 'easy mode' then this game is not for you.

Expecting big things from a guy that deals exclusively with indie studios? It's his job to find and bring unique indie titles to the platform. Of course he's going to hype them up! Bringing hype to a small indie studio is a huge win for both parties. Some of which grow bigger with the success and provide bigger budget games. Some are too quick to write off Indies because it somehow translates into lack of quality. If it is a held belief then some are truly missing out.

Not sure if its something they already had in mind for allowing players to team up with friends in some way.
When I was in the alpha, some of my feedback and thoughts I made about things I'd like to see in the final game was a way to allow play with friends; making the matchmaking easier to find players on the users friend list via an on/off selection, as to keeping an option available to allow players to enjoy co-op with random players as well.

Love my vita, had it since release and have not used those apps at all. Maybe the same reason why sony doesn't want to continue supporting them?
I certainly don't feel at a loss without them and will continue enjoying my vita regardless.
I love my 3ds xl as well and wouldn't use those apps, if available on it as well.
