I see yours and the writers POV. With the way the game market has shift, it's really hard for MS to justify the cost of live. Espically when about 75% of the perks of it as a gamer I don't even use. I think they are trying to compile us "being gamers" to much with the casual market.
Even if that were true its still not warrented to charge for access to stuff like Hulu+ Netflix and other online items we they are freely available on other platforms.

I enjoyed the first two minutes of this video. What was stated about the history of the PlayStation when compared to other consoles was strong opinion pushed by even stronger facts.

Agreed they pushed themselves into the market, and in the proccess lost the casual gamer with bad marketing and a intimidating controller. I own one myself and beside being a really good game at parties to play I'm hopeing that they have some more support for titles because the device itself has so much potienal
If what he says is true about multiplayer games than Microsoft will have to restructure the whole idea of Xbox live.... I will be damned if I were to pay a subscription fee twice. If I was trolling my opionon would come off as a bit more vulgar as most do on these forums. The very thing that people do in here is the same thing we do in industry when it comes down to making descions of how we go about making products and the its proccess of going about it. It's not ignorance when talking use cost, and effectiveness. Pc games although most purchases come by the way via download still come out on DVDs still today. Part of the reason Sony used that lens was to push their brand for superiority in the HD movie market, and it did its job it quickly and decisively won them the format war. I don't think 12x the lens speed will be enough given that most of these games will most likely come from the hard drive to reduce seek and load times.
I think the fatal flaw with blu rays are their slower read speeds yes you can fit more but you read off the disc at a much slower rate. So I hope that they stick with the DVD format but make big enough hardrives to make it mandatory that the game be placed on it to play. With that you have a lower cost to you faster read and writing speeds to the drive will be faster.

We are talking more than just apps they may take awhile to load understandble, but the load times just to get to the settings screen is really bad it is way to long and to take 1gb there seems to be a flaw in coding somewhere.

It was a different time hardeives although previlent were not seen as such of a asset as they are today. They could have been a little more bold and made either a bigger standerd hard drive or some other means of patching there console. I think it's more than just the setting, they need to clean up their act and fast as a dev. Warfighter was a joke of a game, and I own it. Subpar singleplayer, g-d awful multiplayer I would love to see them maybe take a risk do a first person shooter on the role of a spy in the Cold War jump to different chracters, or something around that type. They just can't continue to put this type of product out with a promise to a beta of a better game in hopes of getting a few more sales
If there two gripes I have with the system is
1) I think it's extremely unfair to the consumer that Nintendo made us download a 5Gb patch day one that takes up more then half the hard drive on the basic model
2) The inability the Os has to jump quickly between menus and options it is not next generation at all it is extremely slow and makes you regret making any mistakes because you pay for it dearly with your time
I see it the opposite from you the same price point though. For these two major reasons, Sony can not allow what happened this console cycle to repeat next cycle, and coming out last even by a couple of months I don't think will help this cause.
It's also heavily rumored that the chip sets coming out from fabrication for the next Xbox are not yielding the numbers Microsoft is desiring which unless they are looking to run into another potential red ring issue will push...

I can't roll with you on most of what you said but the single player campaign for the most part was presented very well as far as putting in the boots of a Teir one operator. The rest of the game was lackluster at best

I could care less about it not being exclusive, the Wii U pad is the difference. It being delayed is a huge mistake are the part of Ubi, the backlash they are receiving from this is tremendous, and in return probably is not making Nintendo non to happy as well
