no, it's been like 8 years, they announced Vs XII at about the same time they announced the original FFXII, and had video of the main character fighting a load of goons.
that was in 2006.
they've since renamed, or renumbered, the game to XV and i assume abandoned any attempts to link it to XIII.
it may be two years since they renamed it, but the game has been in development for 8 years now.
i would would like it if there was at least one playable woman, but i won't avoid the game if there isn't.
you turn an IP like the Alien series into a sausage fest, then it's a big problem, but a whole new story here with all new characters, it's not really a problem.
