There are a lot of reasons why. For example, the developers could be lazy or they just wish to cater for the fans of their original games.

I'll continue to spend £40 a year simply because I believe their services have a lot to offer. Sure, I'd like it to be free, who doesn't want something free? But in my opinion, Xbox live is most certainly worth the money.

.. The writer of this just complains about how a Party Chat system prevents him from playing in "True Skill" games or Ranked Matches. I'm pretty sure that Halo 3, Gears of War 2, FEAR 2, Bad Company 2, and a couple of play lists on Modern Warfare 2 allowed you to.
