However, Capcom remained strong in this business because through out their history they produced awesome games and continue to do so.
Sure the disk locked DLC was a dick move, but if you don't like something don't buy it. Some people just whine about anything Capcom related.
It was revolutionary. Up to that point consoles competed in traditional ways, and how many polygons you can draw etc. And then every 3rd party would support the one that gets marketed best and gets more market share.
The Wii was about a new control scheme and it caught on like fire. The graphics were secondary in the Wii's bid and it paid well. However, Nintendo wasn't ready for such a success and failed to convince the hardcore crowd due to concentration on the casua...

Generally consoles start with comparable performance to high end PC's because the games are optimized for them. So for the performance-cost they win at the start.
Then the longer they continue in their product cycle the price-performance switches back to PC's.
Maybe this generation will be an exception where PC's that are not considered high-end can outperform the consoles.
