I was a FPS junkie - until the repetitiveness and unoriginality of the games got the better of me. We need more FPS like Spec Ops: The Line where the player is confronted with killing and its consequences, rather than making the game all about a frag-fest.
I think it's pathetic to say the least. There is simply no excuse to express disappointment in such an abusive way. Games have Community Managers etc who is responsible for dealing with the communities, there are enough platforms available to ensure your displeasure will be heard. Gamer rage does only 1 thing, damages the industry.
Jip, if the premise was true that playing violent video games result in violent behavior, the world would've been overrun by gamer-gone-serial-killers :P

If cyber athletes want to be taken as serious as traditional sports athletes, they really need to work being more professional. There are a lot of obstacles and unique problems facing eSports if it wants to be a contender alongside other sports. Just 1 of the aspects is having a unified rule-set per title.

I think developers should be more responsible when they advertise the game. as you've pointed out, what we see in trailers mostly say nothing about the actual gameplay.
IMO hyped up advertising was the cause of a lot of the rage that resulted from the ME ending. Bioware advertised how much of an effect player choice would have on the end - which it didn't.
The Mass Effect series was exceptional, I've never played anything like it, IMO nothing like it has also been made.
Gosh how I miss WoW. I know exactly what you are talking abt, I sed to be a FPS junkie, 'till I saw a RAID. The challenges was enormous for me. I ended up playing WoW for a long long time. I left just after the Firelands update, it started feeling to much like a job. Raiding, leveling etc etc. I will always remember it fondly though
