No I dont think Don made all the decisions himself but he was the boss of Xbox and lead the team. As a boss you are the one making said decisions. His comments were very pro-business and less gamer-centric.
Is Phil still making decisions to make money? Yes. But at least with him at the helm studios like Rare are given freedom to pursue actual games and not collections of Kinect mini games because he realizes that is what gamers want or there will be a lot of backlash again.
...
I am glad Phil is taking that mentality. Let a great product speak for itself and the customers will come. Unlike Mr. Mattrick before, lets produce as many gimmicks as possible and hope consumers accept it.
This is like the early years of the 360. Great, creative games coming out along with established IPs. Not every single game having some form of kinect involved.
Im with you, after playing the second one last year on the 360 and now the third one I have my fiancee ordering me the books for my birthday. The characters are engrossing and have a lot of thought and detail put into them that I want to learn more. If having the most creative side quests in an open world game, great graphics, good story and fun combat equate to an underwhelming game then I bet he hasnt found a game that whelms him yet.
I disagree. Never played Witcher 1, but did play the second one and there are so many references to the previous Witcher game like the Sorcerers Guild, Lock Muin, his amnesia, relationship with Triss, etc.
Yes you can read about it and understand a bit from them talking about it but interacting with Letho in the second game and hearing someone talk about his deeds in the third is a different experience.
Not a huge fan of the Dark Souls series but again, recognize that it is a great game and does an amazing job of what it sets out to do.
@ Griever.
You cant go listing every single PS4 game and call them AAA and only a few for Xbox just to skew the argument to your side. Some of the games you have listed like Bastion or Rocket League are either on Microsoft platforms or coming out for one. Oh and stating something is FACT doesnt mean its fact, it could very well mean you're wrong.
You left out a lot of games for Xbox such as:
Ashen - RPG
Cobalt - Platfor...
I agree some extra space up front would have been nice haha.
Agreed, both Max Payne and Alan Wake had some difficult moments, so I dont feel worried about this game being too easy.
Agreed not for everyone but done right I will certainly enjoy it. Play the game, decent length cutscene kicks in, grab some food, watch and enjoy!
I fee like you didnt play the game but only read about it. No way is it the same over and over. Im finding new and interesting things in this game all the time. While Skyrim/Fallout were great, their quests became a bit derivitive after awhile.
If I didn't know better I would say Microsoft has someone who actually cares about games in charge of the Xbox division.
Well thats too bad. I never encountered any bad glitches in this game other than odd graphical ones until this quest. Watching the Werewolf growl over and over until it sinks into the ground is pretty funny though.
I feel like english is definitely his second language. In another comment he called "Shenmue" Shammue.
@Zero
I honestly dont know why you got disagrees, maybe jealous fanboys?
Like you I feel it is awesome to see competitors recognize great work other companies are doing. Another one of the million reasons Naughty Dog are one of the best game developers.
I agree, cannot wait. I dont play as many strategy games now that I play more games on console than the PC but Halo Wars on the 360 was amazing. Now to hopefully play Halo Wars on xbox one backwards compatibility as a primer before 2 comes out.
Didn't a lot of staff from the closure of Ensemble Studios go to Creative assembly? If so many of them would have experience with the previous Halo Wars.
If Microsoft keeps adding features consistently at this rate next year it'll start cooking dinner for me.
4 games I can play on xbox one each month? Yes please.
Good discounts but if you own an xbox one I would just pay for a year of EA Access instead of buying one game. You get them for free plus Titanfall, Plants Vs Zombies, BF 4 and more.
Achievements are fine. Its the developers that need to work on their achievements and make them fun and creative.
