I think they'd need one more original game first party game. If it's not Mario Kart, launch with Pikmin 4. I doubt that's the case though as Pikmin wasn't shown.
Just because Nintendo hasn't shown us Mario for the Nintendo Switch doesn't mean it hasn't been in development for a long time. That's not rushing it out. Nintendo has had a thing for not showing games early (except for Zelda I guess with all of its delays)
There are verified rumors of prominent launch posters of a Mario game. It's linked in the article. So no, that's not my basis. I've been hearing rumblings for weeks
Also for all we know Splatoon may be a sequel, who knows. But a new Mario and Zelda and Mario Kart would kill it
Skyrim is one game and a vastly popular one at that. I have a lot of friends who are ecstatic about the idea of playing it on the go, and Nintendo owners never got to experience it.
Also Zelda is not a remaster. It was delayed in part to optimize it for the switch
Basketball was 2K, Take-Two said how they were proud to take part in the presentation or something to that effect.
@sk8 @4Sh0W why does this always have to be a battle of Nintendo against everyone else? Why can't we appreciate BotW for the gorgeous game it is (and yeah I actually have played it in person)?
Playing it at E3 I would have given the demo GOTY for 2016, lol. ;)
Eh maybe but maybe not. They only showed about 4 games when there's no doubt they are working on more. Nintendo needs to bring out the heavy hitters though for launch and Mario, Zelda, and Mario Kart would be perfect. Plus Mario is all but confirmed for launch of you've been following verified reports.
Skyrim is coming, it wouldn't have been shown so prominently if it hadn't. It will be confirmed.
If Mario is a launch title, which rumors point to the fact that it is, and if we get Mario Kart at launch along with Skyrim and Zelda, and then Splatoon, this will go down as the greatest launch in console history. Now nintendo will have to keep it up but the future is very exciting!
It may be a branding thing. There could be a few explanations, who knows.
There were rumblings that it would be about Marston and his gang for a while now with a gang mechanic. Forget the source on that though so don't quote me.
