Also if the software you are running is not multi threaded, you'll get next to zero performance increase. It is totally about the multi-threaded software. Exact same problem you see with ports coming from Xbox 360 to PS3. Early games from the 360 were single or dual threaded. The PS3 requires multi threading programs to run efficiently. That is why we see games starting on PS3 using the SPE work well on the 360 is because the 360 has 3 dual threading capable CPUs.
The Cell processor is a multi thread CPU. It has one CPU with 8 mini helpers (1 disabled on the PS3 for yields). The cool thing about the Cell processor is that you can add or subtract the amount of SPE required for the task.
True multi core processors have multiple cores not additional helpers. If I took a Duel Core chip and disabled one core the computer would still run on the other core. With a Cell processor if you disabled the cpu the SPEs could not do the job.

I went to my BX (Air Force's department store) last week and saw the PS3 hooked to a 720p JVC with RCA cables. I couldn't believe how bad Motorstorm looked. I had to call a floor salesman over to tell them the problem. Ya'll seriously need to fix this if ya'll wish to sell more PS3s. Right next to it they had a Xbox 360 connected to a HDTV via HDMI cables. The difference was night and day.

Give me a break. Handhelds vs consoles? Tired of seeing this madness. Handheld vs Handheld. PSP vs Nintendo DS...thats a nice match up and similar pricing as well. Wii vs PS3...both consoles...not close in price but still the better match up.

Since when has handhelds sold been in the same league as consoles sold? Handhelds will continue to outsell consoles at their (consoles) price point. Not all parents are willing to drop $400+ on consoles.

Our time is coming too. Once home comes online there will be adverts throughout home. This will be Sony's way of keeping PSN free. The only thing is I hope they will not force us to watch an entire add when we get demos of movies/games etc. In 2008, we'll get our ads...unfortunately.
