So essentially 20 million install base not including the RRODs. Not bad...
Seriously though, we are 2 years into a 6 year war and people are saying game over? Don't think so. Even the Wii can't rest in first place, although I'd rather be in Nintendo's shoes than Sony's. All consoles have good figures in reality.
Its just at the moment, the fanboys can crow over X console outselling Y console over a period of time and claim that their console is superior and the o...
LA Noire is still officially PS3 exclusive for now. Tom Crago has nothing to do with either Team Bondi or Rockstar and was just speculating.
Wouldn't surprise me with the budget on the game though.
Because in Home clubrooms you can share files, play audio, even post spreadsheet/powerpoint slides on bulletin boards...
Name me one free to use program running on a cheaper single cost platform that is secure and allows this type of interactive freedom?
What you don't realise is that the software to do exactly the same on Windows/Mac OS etc requires license fees for every user/every year. Using the PS3 is a one off cost that is not limited to a single account and does not require on going charges.
For a business it makes massive sense.
Guy on VGChartz named Tommie posted this:
So yesterday at work, we got an e-mail from Sony which said we could cut the prices of all the PS3 bundles, following a former price cut from another retailer. I work at the 3rd biggest games store in The Netherlands, so we are probably one of the first shops in Holland to get this news. Below is a run down on all the new prices from all different bundles:
PS3 80GB with 300 Blu-Ray = 277 euro (down from 388)
PS3 80GB wi...

Believe
Well considering Australia has a population smaller than Georgia, its a massive amount per person.
Thats funny, up until the price cut in late Sept, PS3 was soundly spanking the 360 worldwide. Now that they have dropped the price through the floor and system sales have spiked, its due to DLC + buying timed exclusives???
Que?
Love it. The clash of the Xbots vs the SDF. Should make a Uwe Boll movie out of that.
Man, Sony have really dropped the ball this gen with their advertising of imprisoned prostitutes...
That is incorrect. MS and Sony both count shipped to retail channel in their financial figures (what they receive money for). When a customer gets a fault within the warranty period, two things can happen - one, they take it back to store for a product swap or they return to MS/Sony for warranty claim and refurbishment. In the first example, it is replaced from inventory at the store and in the second it is not.
When it is replaced from inventory, this must be replaced and add...
He is actually right. MS releases a year early to 100% market share. That has since dropped to 30%.
or Gears of War 2 multi
or Fable 2 coop
or Too Humans gameplay?
See I can do this too! Where does it get us?
Simple business rule for you kiddies - Sony's shareholders would not allow these financial losses to continue unless it was a driver for greater profits in the longer term. An investment if you will, especially after the disaster that was 2007.
I also consider the PS3 to be a "Blu-Ray delivery mechanism" to mainstream users. As Sony gets royalties for every Blu-Ray for life, I think that the overall financial benefit of this generation for Sony has been understated. ...
Ah you're one of these little kiddies who thinks after 2 years the wars over? We are just getting started...Minimum 3 years left to play in this one. A lot more battles to come.
Now back to the sandbox like a good boy.
Problem is, we have NO idea how much money the Xbox is making because MS won't report it directly. They have to tie it in with a lot of other products in the EDD to hide real figures.
It is already in Australia
So far in 2008 calendar year, from their respective financial reports, sales (shipped to retail) worldwide have been:
PS3 - 6.32 mill
Xbox360 - 4.80 mill
The release of SO4 and LR will be absolutely nothing compared to WKC and FF.
Official figures so far this calendar year (Sony/MS figures worldwide)
PS3 - 6.32 mill
Xbox360 - 4.80 mill
Considering where the system was late in 2007, on the canvas and bleeding, to where it is now, damn straight it is the year of the PS3.
er...wat?
Latest attached rate for the PS3, iirc, remains in the high 6's worldwide.
