Basic microeconomics state that in a perfect competitive market the product tends to be homogenius and the benefits to the producer tend to be 0 so its better for consumers but producers and investement tend to shift to other markets. So no competition isnt always better.

But it also outsold it in 2007, there was a whole debacle as no one believed it but oficial numbers reported the ps3 sold more.

They are using Lost planet gameplay mechanics and weapons. So a few alterations were needed they couldnt just throw a lancer there and upset the balance of the game.

I think the handheld market suffers from oversaturation currently so i dont think any new players would do fantastic it took a long time to break the complete stranglehold of nintendo who still remain the dominant player but unless they revolutionize their aproach no one will outplay them.

If you want to go with quality you need to disregard your most loved argument of sales makes the games. Besides GT is still used as a reference point even with forzas next gen entry so that would break most quality arguments.
If you go with your tied argument gran turismo is the only beast worth slaying in the genre.
Last time i checked there were 3 dlc map packs for killzone which is hat your basing your definition of support.
The new price is pretty much a confirmation of the cost reduction. I think i am not gonna buy one i liked the chrome and gloss effect even iff it was a dust magnet but i think sales will go through the roof if price was all that mattered.
