They haven't done much in the way of ad campaigns in the UK either. Some good LittleBigPlanet adverts, but that's it. Nothing when MGS came out, nothings for Killzone 2. I think I saw a poster for Bioshock when it came to the PS3. But I think gamers already know of the PS3, its getting non-gamers used to the idea of the PS3
I think if you re-read the last paragraph of the article you may realize you are on the same page. Two key factors are going to see Sony through this.
1. Commitment to their Product - The PS3 10 year plan. A level of commitment that most likely comes from the Japanese culture.
2. Sony's re-org will put the correct working pieces of the company together and focus on their winning product. A reaction to the present economic conditions.
You can remember major or important events. I remember getting my head split open when I was 2.
Its not a solution, but a relief, enough of a relief to maybe find a solution.
I think it's not a case of developers/studios/publishers stepping up but industry groups and rating boards. Stories like this will help when trying to get games into Australia as it shows games don't encourage everyone to emulate the behavior they present. (Oz doesn't have an 18+ rating and is VERY harsh on any drug use).
I'm so glad to see something like this on N4G and to be having the temp move up on it. This article really showed the other side of the coin, a true different perspective on life and gaming from what everyone sees. This is a topic that won't normally be seen on CNN, I hope this receives more exposure to give gaming a more positive spin to the world. I think most of the parents who are dead set against games and think gaming corrupts society need to hear more stories like this one from Loot...
Zombies get my vote for the most scary.... But seeing Helghast kick down a door or come running through some fire shooting... that may be a pants crapping experience.
If it wasn't for the economy and lack of job security, this may be the title to get me to pick up a PS3. I really enjoyed the first one, it was a bit weird, but I still had fun with it, a slightly different and challenging FPS. Killzone 2 could be what MGS4 was supposed to be.
@drunk pandas - Whats to stop just allowing a second player mirroring the first player? like back in the old days, the red guy and the blue guy.
generally speaking i find the 360 controllers not to comfortable.
Fighters tend to turn into a button mashing affair for me, so if this is a bit more precious then I doubt it will replace SFII in my heart.
If you take away the Halo franchise and dressing away and the game stands up then it will get gamers over the fence.
Agreed, if games maintain doing ok and the economy keeps taking a crap money needs to be invested somewhere so why not develop a few titles? People will need to spark some originality to make a big seller so maybe we can get some new quality IP's.
I think Indie Dev is already the new trend. Last year was huge for Xbox Live Arcade. And now community? Bam, growing huge!
But it's just a trend, sooner or later it will fade away.
I think some big studios will buy up smaller ones and with tough times ahead the total focus will be on the bottom line. Driven by the green.
Endwar focused less on controls and more on the voice gimmick, which was cool. I played and liked to combine the two use voice and controller at the same time... but the controls were still a bit much. Did the Halo Wars demo have any neat extra features like the voice control? Or did they just focus on clean play?
It comes down to the community to monitor or self-police (harsh term but lacking words today) these activities. This goes for misleading, inaccurate, misquoting, or failure to cite sources. Community should be compromised of developers, publishers, PR, media/journo, and gamers themselves. People must act responsibly and that means politely telling the morons to go away or grow up.
Lets not pretend. Is Halo Wars looking better than Endwar & C&C3?
True that there are not many real exclusives anymore but that does not dismiss the issue at hand. When there is an exclusive sometimes its very very hard to find who really had the rights in the first place. Site A got exclusive, Site B reported on Site A's findings. Site C saw site B, copied info from site A and kept the word exclusive. Site A should be credited w/active link the whole way through regardless.
Also, if a site receives information via a general press release then the...
Hear Hear! Give credit when Credit is due!
At least there are options here. Remember when Major League Baseball was one of the only options on Nintendo?
