New IP's is what I'm excited about most next gen. Also how they expand gameplay and story interaction with new hardware.

Depends what your definition of success is. If it is making as many exclusives as possible then SONY succeeded. If it is making a profit then Microsoft succeeded as their financial reports from 2005 show that they have made an overall profit since xbox 360 launched. Sony. . .not so much.

Confession, I bought into the Project Natal hype. They had me convinced that it was the next level of gaming interaction.
What we got instead is an embarrassment to me as a core gamer. At first I lenient, thought I'd give them time to make that Kinect game that I'd been waiting for. . .it never came.

Actually thats not true, I love Street Fighter, Dragon Ball Z, GT, Metal Gear, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Mario and Castlevania (LoS is my game of the gen) I just don't enjoy JRPG's, not Final Fantasy, not Star Ocean and not Lost Odyssey so its not that I haven't tried.
