Mature wasn't referring to the content, more the story/style. Dead Island is an adult game, for sure, but it's also pretty daft and stupid. This goes for a more mature story/world.
A good game is a good game. We gave it an 8/10, and it's a very good experience!
No idea, it's still in alpha.
Thanks, appreciate that comment. We did have scheduled times to play with the devs, but the matchmaking servers were having issues. We couldn't score it until we were sure it actually worked, which it does. Review has been updated now, as we've had lots of time with it.
It does, in all seriousness, Halo 2 on this collection floored me. I didn't include it, but the cut-scenes have been redone completely and look current-gen, easily.
Halo 1 does play so well though, that 60fps is really nice.
That's the thing, back when I was growing up, games were just harder and less forgiving. This is (in many ways) a throwback but made with the modern visuals, etc. [Adam]
It's a funny thing, because there obviously is *some* AI, but the Alien is so damn unpredictable. It'll disappear into a vent and you think "Oh, ok, I need to quickly (but quietly!) get out of here". Then suddenly the damn thing changes its mind and jumps back down and you're gone.
There's this wonderful moment (a bit you can see in the video) where I got cocky and coaxed three humans out, then threw a molotov at them. Killed all of them. Proud, I go...
I did, but that happened once, and I learned my lesson. After that I saved frequently, and didn't lose such a large portion of the playthrough again. I took for granted that I was safe, and capable enough - and died! [Adam]
You'll love it. I find it really hard to think a big Alien fan wouldn't adore this.
Thank you for making us laugh! :-D
Agree with that, it's been far too long. Don't see anyone on our friend lists playing this any more.
That's a fair comment, but most of the games at E3 that people were excited about are "2015", no?
The behind closed door stuff wasn't great, frame-rate wise, so it's probably a while away yet.
Did he say why? We're not sending a hit squad or anything, just curious!
Bit harsh!
Apologies that the video didn't work in the N4G post, guys. The BBC apparently didn't like their logo appearing for 3 seconds, so we've re-uploaded it without that. If you click-through to the article, the video works there. Sorry!
Glad so many agree, though. It's great to see there are sensible people out there who will WAIT for information, before claiming things they couldn't possibly know!
He doesn't, for the record ;-)
Yeah, the frame rate is above 30fps, occasionally dropping. It is genuinely a good port. Sure, it's NOT as good as the XBO or PC version, but if 360 is your only option, you're going to have a great time with the game still.
YouTube compression maybe not showing it to it's fullest, but it does look good.
Should just add, Microsoft had very little to do with the review process. Both XBO/PC and 360 review samples came from EA in the UK.
Oh there were, and in the UK they had PS Vita sponsor shows like The Simpsons.
Trouble is, Tearaway is a game you kind of need to play. The advert that was on before The Simpsons actually put off a few people we know!
Actually they specifically asked that no capture or discussion from the opening of the game is used. So we didn't.
