I think you will find that Wolfenstein and doom has made gamers want more FPS. I've loved FPS ever since those 2 games and Halo hasn't had anything to do with me wanting to play FPS.
Even on the console i think Golden Eye had a bigger impact on console FPS than Halo.

I actually got Left4Dead on the PC. That's the problem with 360 exclusives, you can play them on the PC anyway, so not that bothered.
