I actually enjoy your input when you're not being a douche. It's unfortunate that it's on a rare occasion.

Feels so good to find that one game you've been waiting on at 80% off. Spent around $100(CDN) last night and bought over 15 games.

I think you may only need to have Xbox Gold to play the MP portion of the game. SP and co-op are full price or included with a Game Pass subscription.

Waiting on PSVR2 to jump into the VR world.

It's right there in the title, how did we all miss that?
That seems a bit naive.

It might be true, they might want you to pay them for the cosmetics and the battle pass every 3 months and then just put out single player content they can also charge a full price for and do less work, best of both worlds.

That doesn't sound all that great for the players though.

Starting to warm up to it, looks like a good game but wouldn't be able to justify paying full price for it.

That's a different discussion altogether.
I think there is a sinister line of thought in all of this.

There is a good chance that the dedicated Halo and Xbox gamers already have Game Pass, so if they release the game at $60 without microtransactions they are potentially losing out on a lot of revenue. If they make the game free to play with a microtransaction model in place, they get money from both Game Pass users and regular players.

That would be fair criticism when the time comes.

I am all for calling them out on things like that if it ends up being the case but to bring out the pitchforks before the game is even out doesn't sit well with me.

There is nothing really wrong with any of that as long as they only sell cosmetic items. They are a company that is out there to make money and if they can provide a quality game for free I see no issue with this.

The reason people usually frown on Free to Play games is because a lot of them are not that great and/or they have a lot of predatory mechanics built in.

I've noticed a trend recently where if a company is trying to make more money they ar...

This type of post just makes you look bad.

N4G is a community that you are a part of so spouting nonsense like this just creates divisiveness and continues to fuel the stupid console war. From what I noticed, not a single person here has said they need to leave the market(so far), you imposed that on the community to make a stupid point.

Just stop.

It's a Free to Play game, I really don't see an issue as long as the rewards are cosmetic.

Still holding a grudge from the X360 era? Might be time to let it go.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah, I'm with you on the first part there as far as the install base is concerned.

I don't think cross-gen will hold the games back though, at least not in the terms of gameplay which I think is the most important issue. The only games that might be held back are first party games and that is only IF they are taking advantage of the SSD. Prime example of this would be Ratchet and Clank where they are loading in a whole new world but even that has been done to a sm...

What's the install base argument? Current gen will sell more than old gen consoles, I don't know if many people will argue that.
The only question is if the old gen versions are going to make the time and money put into it worth it and I'm guessing the answer is yes because otherwise developers wouldn't be doing it.

"FIFA's closest rival this week is Far Cry 6 from Ubisoft. The game's boxed sales are almost 70% lower than Far Cry 5, which was released in March 2018. 47% of sales were on PS5, 24% on PS4 and 29% on Xbox platforms."

"Next on the new releases is Alan Wake Remastered at No.5. The original game was an Xbox 360 exclusive, so this is the first time the title has been on PlayStation platforms. And it seems to have paid off. 63% of the game's sales wer...

That Into the Spider-verse skin in the game is amazing, they really nailed the animation style the movie used.

The movie was very influential and brought Miles to everyone's attention, now you see him everywhere so it makes sense they would consult with them.

Imalwaysright - Well, where do you think that majority of that profit comes from? The 15 studios that they own that makes games exclusively for Playstation or the 100s of studios that pay 30% cut on the Playstation Network? Here, I'll give you a hint.

"The total amount of revenue Fortnite made in 2020 was a staggering $2.504 Billion USD. The majority of this revenue came from PlayStation 4 users"

Your conclusion from the the profits alone is...

You said it yourself, games were made with teams of 10 people and way less time then now. I just don't understand how you got from 10 people teams that built games in about a year or less to 250 people teams building games for about 5 years and think to yourself that games should actually be cheaper to make with your only counterpoint being that they are more readily available right now which may be true for mobile but console sales aren't all that different than before.
