I don't think its okay by any means but I also don't consider this crap true DLC. This is cosmetic and not up for sale day one (yet).
I think people are over reacting considering ALL preorder bonuses are announced before the game releases as that is the point.
Anyhow, by the comments it seemed people didn't get the fact it was preorder bonus not day one on disc DLC.
Have people forgotten that they are in the business of writing not selling advertisement space. I understand that selling space for ads is a revenue stream but if that is your only stream of revenue what do you expect?
I feel like websites have gone the route of Ideocracy and everything is an advertisement even our clothes are plastered with ADS for some brand or another.
Imagine watching TV but instead of a banner at the bottom running headlines its running ...
For those that don't read articles let me just drop this here.
Excerpt: The video described the DLC sets as “pre-order bonuses available from select retailers”
Well according to the article its pre-order bonuses. Not paid for DLC (Yet!).
I hate pre-order store bonuses but to me it hits a different string than when its dlc content they plan on charging.
" ...filtered through the eyes of one beefy white guy after another."
Stopped right there, here goes polygon again... writing a bunch of drivel based on one persons ideas not being catered to.
Scrolled down the page and the first link to a video is "Meet the John Wayne of the Borderlands: Pre Sequel"
Spoiler: ITS A WOMAN!
So even if we go with your numbers that is 1.5 million units sold on the platform (unbundled) that has an install base of less than 5 million.
1.5/4.96 = 30% of all Xbox One owners BOUGHT the game... (33% if we took out those 500k consoles)
Still beats out COD on PS4 by install base numbers...
Math must be hard for you...
I hate the game (I haven't played it in months) but that doesn't mean it didn't have a succes...
1) Only One of the four is a new IP (Watch Dogs)
2) All PS4 games (over 2m) are multi-platform. (COD, WD, BF4, FIFA)
3) Install base is smaller (4.98million v. 8.74million)
2m/4.96m = 40% of Xbox One owners own Titanfall
2.4m/8.74m = 27% of PS4 owners own COD (The highest selling game)
Maybe put the pitch forks down for a second and understand how this is pretty good. Then you can start hating on X1 again.
How is selling 2 million copies on the Xbox One a negative? What exclusives on the PS4 have sold 2 million? The PS4 has a larger install base but no game has hit 2 million* that wasn't multiplatform.
*Given the same set of data this was pulled from.
This is great news for a new IP.
"I'm pretty sure I read somewhere here very often that if it didn't sell as many as Halo it was instant failure."
I have heard/read a lot of BS statements here but I don't hold the WHOLE community to what one person says.
Besides deciding success is almost purely subjective. If I expect a "B" to be a success but all I need is a "C" and I get a "C" others might call that a success even If I don't since th...
I love the old school cartoon look of it. I cant wait to try it.
Too bad I am not having kids because those would be awesome nursery posters.
That is one way of looking at it. How about the fact that it was stated the Xbox One would always have Kinect attached to it? Meaning why wait for a Kinectless Sku when it will NEVER happen. Just 9 months later what happened? I could have waited if I had known but the fact is they implied don't wait it WON'T happen.
Of course prices drop but to be mislead saying that something wont happen and then less than a year later its not only happened and cheaper.
"Even if you release an amazing game with dozens of hours of content and think that it's worth a $50 price tag, the market may not agree with you. Many developers don't have the savings to wait for profit over a course of years due to sales."
So lets go back to business and marketing 101...
If there is no market for a $50 game...
Maybe STOP making huge development costing games that you have to charge $50 for. Maybe you cut ...
Wouldn't the point your making just be proving that Nintendo can't compete in today's market and the only thing keeping it alive are die hard Nintendo fans. If the games they make couldn't compete on another console that would mean they aren't that good for the whole.
That would really mean that the only reason the games are selling is because there is nothing better to buy on the Nintendo platform.
If that is the case than Nintendo needs...
I am not a fan of Polygon by any means but they had a good article about this a few years ago.
http://www.polygon.com/2012...
It is about state, county, and city laws.
Gamestop is required in many states to keep this information for police.
Again I am totally against it but it is not really a Gamestop ...
"I don't see anybody complaining when google searches and computer activities are used to prevent or capture terrorists."
Your joking right? People complain ALL the time. There is a reason search engines like duckduckgo and email providers like silent circle (RIP) and dozens more say they will never search through your emails.
I like my privacy and I already have too little of it without letting another company have it. I dont use gamestop but t...
You could always change your status from "In a relationship" to "single" until you find someone with enough self respect that they wouldn't play a game like this.
That is what you can do about it.
Candy Crush is one thing but Kim-y K... Hell No!
You do realize that this is satire right?
"You begin the game by picking your gender and resting douche-face."
"...American Dream of whoring one’s life out as cable TV reality..."
These are not in keeping with a 10/10 review.
I love Commander Keen. Still play it every now and then to take me back. I still remember going to the store and buying the floppy disk when Commander Keen 4 came out.
Far Cry 3 is definitely worth a shot. It has some of the best story I have played in a long time. With people that I felt where realistic (Obviously the person you play as is pretty pathetic but that is by design that goes way back in writing).
