I have no issue with dungeons and dragons and fantasy style game play (which this is). I have a problem with using intellectual property being sold and used on shite like that.
They make an average game but aim to make more money but slapping a Tolkien label on it. THAT'S my problem.
Plagiarism would be a better word for this. If they gave it an innocuous name, do you really think this game would sell anywhere near as well?
Also I do desp...
I'm sorry but the thought of playing a game of such a beloved novel from Tolkien or using said mythology for people too lazy to read the friggin' book is sickening.
For me, this is milking it for milking it sake. I cannot EVER find this type of shite good or entertaining.
This is dungeons and dragon with a Tolkien label slapped on it to sell copies.
If you want Tolkien then read "The Hobbit", "The Lord of The Rings"...
A few things.
1. Dropping the price is an incredibly stupid thing to do. (The market dictates the price point... Not you.
2. Xbox Live has been a pay service since conception with The original Xbox, providing a great service. Now that common apps have been removed from behind the paywall should they give it away for free, again a stupid argument.
OT: I've read the article thoroughly and completely agree. I had no issues what so ever with ...
@Kakashi... - Don't be such a girl! Whining about stuff that you have no control over is childish.
Focus on the here and now and try to be upbeat.
OT: Fantastic news, that will be less for the competition supporters to moan about.
All we need now is every user on N4G to take a chill pill and relax. Arguing over toys is about as silly as it gets.
Compared to the Japanese, the Americans are Angels in China's eyes.
Don't get me wrong, Americans are viewed as insular, dangerous, intolerant morons by most of the world. Particularly regarding;
Foreign policy
The Republican party
Electing a subnormal president (Bush Jr)
War mongering etc. etc. etc.
However we are talking about The history between China and Japan, compared to the history between China and Amer...
The story covered by Reuters, paints are clearer picture of this story.
Key figures are putting the blame straight at the feet of current Sony CEO Kaz.
It seems his reign over Playstation was not a good enough skill set to handle to job of CEO and the decisions he's made have ranged from Questionable to Down right Dangerous.
The sooner they find a CEO with global insight and a steady hand the better the state of Sony Corp.
Something tells me that in china the brand recognition of Sony and the Japanese may not be the positive sales tool Sony thinks.
The relationship between Japan and China since 1937 has been tense to say the least, made even worse following the recent Japanese refusal to recognise the use of "Comfort Women" during the Japanese invasion of China during in the late 1930's.
That said the trade between America and Europe is pretty solid so it could be...
@Studio-Yami
If you want a car powered by radioactive chickens... build your own cos car manufacturers don't make them... I'm pretty sure they dont...
Same goes for X1, If you want an X1 that does not have kinect... go buy a P4... MS Doesn't make them.
I have an X1 and kinect is very useful to me. It has not, however told me any funny jokes, so I can't agree with your sweeping statement that Kinect is a joke :).
Here we go again!. I am completely flabbergasted by the consensus of most gamers, where by manufacturers MUST do well in Japan. I have never found Japanese games interesting and or entertaining in any way shape or form.
Don't get me wrong I'm sure there is a tiny percentage of western gamers that enjoy that kind of thing, but when did it become accepted that Japan is or was the zeitgeist of Gaming?
We are more connected now in a global economy. So why...
@All
OT: Bit of a dull article, first off no one cares about Japan any more... unless you live there or trade there. Japan's economy has been steadily slipping over the past few years and the tax hike is not a surprise at all.
On the subject of Sales Tax, in the UK we have 20% VAT for non essentials, used to be 17.5%, dropped to 15% for 12 months and then it was whacked up to 20% by the Tories (UK equivalent of Repulicans - B@st@rds to a man!).

@lukas
DRM is not the bogeyman!. I do NOT care about selling games, sharing games or buying second hand games.
You may feel that I am being selfish, but I don't care about children wanting to trade either. My 2 boys buy games new and they stay on the shelf until they feel like playing them again.
The benefits of sharing online and running games without the disk were great for us.
So these issues are not what you wanted wh...
@Megane - That's the first reference to a character in a story book with humour I've seem on here (kudos - Have a bubble!), Jesus Christ, Bilbo Baggins great fiction! (sorry Christians).
@maniacmeyhem - Please confirm if you're American? from what I understand, only Americans need to tell people they are being sarcastic, or have to ask if someone was being sarcastic. In Britain, the understanding either way is clear... Leave sarcasm to the professionals.

It's middle earth - there is nothing it's equal in story telling.
By fall do you mean Autumn?
If it is an Autumn 2014 release I'll be getting this as a matter of cause.
It's a telly show, why would anyone care?... I just don't understand.
The Big Bang Theory is simple American humour, no offense to Americans on here, it's just basic humour like most American sitcoms are. If you want something different, try Phoenix Nights, Mrs Brown or The League of Gentlemen (not to be confused with that god awful film The league of Extraordinary Gentlemen).
OT: That said I love this program, all the references to Doctor Who are...
"Snarky Englishmen", is that like "Docile American Gents"?
At least in Great Britain, they can hold hands and skip through the public areas of a museum with gay abandon (gay as in happy, not as in homosexual, well... probably both ) LMAO
OT: I love threads on software development, most posters on here (I said most, not all) pretend they have a clue what they are talking about by copying and pasting clever sh!t from the internet. I'd sa...
Agreed, sort of a back handed compliment, like
"I love you darling" just before he slaps her across the face (see 1950's style film-noir for reference)
Arguing on this site reminds me of being stuck in quick sand, the more you wriggle the deeper you go down.
But that's a "Fanboy" for you, or better still, a"Fanatic", religious nutters are the same too. You can't discuss anything without it being about...
Hmmm, only watch dogs blows my skirt up in this list.
That said, I have a horrible feeling that I'll be waiting a while for a game that will be good enough to stop me turning the console off in boredom.
Maybe I'm just not getting that certain something from it.
I need something simple, yet genius
hahahah, I'm sorry but I can't take a podcast seriously when it's called "Mong". I'm British, google British slang for "Mong" and you'll see why!
So let me get this straight.
Skype in games is rubbish, but shoving a glorified mouse onto the controller is the future?
I've got buttons to bash, sticks to waggle and triggers to pull, why on earth would I want a mouse on my controller?
I suppose this comes down to what is important to each of us. For me I want to Skype and think a mouse stuck on a controller is a silly idea.
