i think its far more likely for MS to drop the price of the console than Sony. Sony needs to maximise profits anywhere they can to remain financially stable . Ms on the other hand can eat the losses of selling the console for less. Not that it would happen but if MS dropped the price the addition of Kinect 2 adds tremendous value for $400
sounds fake

He says that it will be a simple process of visiting a website to sign up as a developer to set up your console as a devkit. You'll be able to download the devkit and edit source code on your PC to transfer over to the Xbox One." Kotaku
i would assume a developer license or something along those lines would be needed and...

sounds like a proper dev kit to me.
@ orangepowerz "In a conversation with Whitten, he told us that the commitment to independent developers is full. There won't be restrictions on the type of titles that can be created, nor will there be limits in scope" from the game informer article that broke the story

an online playerbase count 1 year after release for 1 iteration of the series has nothing to do with halo being a franchise. $3 billion in game sales and 50 mill + copies sold ( a feat not many game series have accomplished) is proof that halo is one of the worlds biggest franchises in sales and popularity

the retail version can serve as a dev kit similar to the ones actual Devs use to develop games according to Ms it will afford the same functionality also the Unity Engine can be used for free and it supports kinect
so thats why theyre allowing anybody to self-develop with a retail console and with their self-publishing policies?
they could of easily just allowed self-publishing to make people happy and then go the nintendo route or the sony route where theres self- publishing but the retail consoles are locked out for anything but gaming and multimedia features, but MS is not and they are improving on that model, and giving US consumers goodies.
Stop trying to make everything negative th...
i'll leave this here:
"Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We’ll have more details on the program and the timeline at Gamescom in August."- Marc Whitten (xbox corporate vp)

idk about free tho probably will require a dev license or publishing fees or something the Unity engine is free to use though and it supports kinect.
i would assume some are still mad with MS but you got to think alot more are happy with the xbox getting self- publishin. devs would make way more money by going multiplat with their games than by just sticking with one console and by expanding their audience they can gain prestige and notoriety
i think they did they just didnt go into details they said it would come from their studios or something
might scoop it up just for The Pit i loved that map on Halo 3... i wish they would bring elites back!
duh doesn't every game get boring after a while!? for example i loved bf3 muliplayer and i played it alot even bought premium for the extra map packs and what not but i havent played it over a 2 months cuz guess what it gets boring after playing it for so long...
wow the fanboys are imploding all they have left now is "but it haz 2 morre ddrs than the xbone" "its gun spyy on me and steal my soulzzz" lol
But seriously self publishing is awesome and dev functionality for every console is a gamechanger the xbox keeps getting better and they said there will be more exclusives at gamescom cant wait!

want!!!! i like it cuz its loud its gunna be interesting to see the special edition xbox One's like the Halo or Gears kind...etc.
they know nothing! which is why it was funny when alot of people were blabbing about 7>5 in respect to the ps4 and xbox and how much ram was being allocated to games. Shoot most Pc games only use 5-6 gb of ram. Now alot of people who were boasting about that advantage are flip flopping and saying it doesnt matter which was true all along 5 gbs of ram is more than enough.
