I think this is the wrong way to go...by all means have online games but a lot of people enjoy the single player experience and a lot of people either aren't online or don't have Gold membership on Live. Here in Australia in particular our internet isn't up to the US: it's slower and costlier, and often there is lag.
I was frustrated by the lack of split screen support in multiplayer; this is going too far by far.
I'm very interested in getting SOCOM Confrontation, ...
Yeah I really like that haunting eastern sound. Sounds great. Is this whole soundtrack going to be released with the Limited Edition version does anyone know?
I'm with you on that. I thought the demo was very very ordinary. I'd take Timesplitters' fun approach to gaming over another sci fi in the jungle piece any day.
It sure has a great concept and reason for doing things: much like Crazy Taxi except you have much more to do!!!! Hopefully it is polished up a bit and the missions are creative!!
@Tmac: Your pic of Kratos (?) looks a lot like Vin Diesel, actually! lol.
THis looks like with some polish it could be great...I love car chase scenes in movies and the on foot missions with shooting should make it feel less repetitive...previews where they have played the first level have been positive too. I love the fact it isn't in another US city!!! I wish Rockstar would stop revisiting the same places and go somewhere else too.
I know what you mean. It seems standard now to release a really cool preview with CGI for most games and you have to hope the final product will live up the images you see.
Edit: I just noticed that that CG vid is an older one and that the site has other vids that show more in game stuff.
I hope this will be a good family game. Not too many of those on 360 these days....
Good effort. I'm always in amazement of those who have the patience to do these guides!
The demo was pretty ordinary: Turok without the dinos or moving plants.
I think if another price drop on the 360 happens the game will pick up more sales also. I think God of War on the PS2 is a good example of a console's price drop fueling sales in a particular popular game, particularly with younger less rich gamers.
Umm...both those games haven't been released yet..how about we compare them when we've actually played them?
I think this looks like a lot of fun, but are there no cover dynamics? He seems to be running rather robotically around most of it. Love the level design and look. He mentions clans...does that mean you have to be part of a multiplayer super-online commando squad or can you still just jump in as a 'casual' player and not have everyone jump down your throat? I've never played a SOCOM game, so forgive my ignorance...
Maybe it's like sport and people like to support their team? Mind you I have all three consoles so I support three teams! Yay I win!
And competition between the consoles and companies keeps the pressure on to come up with great games...
I think N4G has way too much of this sort of word warfare saying this game on (insert console of choice) will be way better than that game on (other console). It is ridiculous. Each console has its plus and minus, and good games.
I have to disagree with you here: I've seen plenty of MGS4, Resistance 2, Killzone 2 stuff (for example) that's just 'advertising' on N4G....
I'm hoping these guys do well. It is hard these days for the non-EA non-Ubisoft, non-Activision games to get made. This one seems very promising.
Yeah that'd work: limit who can buy the game so you make less money. Brilliant....I don't get your logic and I have a PS3 too.
Does everything have to be about PS3 v. 360? Yawn.
I think it is probably the Phil effect + poor profits = desperation. Okay if Atari does this then maybe not too many games will be affected but a lot of people think 'next gen' means online integration for everything and I just don't agree.
Most of the world can't do it and most online experiences today are very shallow variations of deathmatch and capture the flag. Those aren't showing a maturing industry where art and story are improving to the point where games should be tak...
