- of whether it can handle it. It's a question of WHY they DIDN'T handle it, and it comes down to poor system architecture, poor software tools, and poor support from Sony.
Ninja Gaiden is a port of a 4 year old game, in development for over 2 years. They are having a time porting it because of the crap software maybe, but that game should have been out at launch, if sony cared about it.
Metal Gear... well if that's your thing, fine. But frankly they haven't been ...
But the MSN will definitely be OFF when I'm playing a game or watching a movie. I can barely deal with it as it is.

The best console FPS since GoldenEye.
No magic pockets with 10 guns, vehicles, speed, stealth, and a pedigree from the best PC FPS series ever, Marathon.
This should be old news:

The PS3 has fallen behind their promises on many other occasions. This story is essentially a yawn. Most people already know that the XBox delivers more consistent graphically. The archetecture is superior, a bank of memory that a developer can allocate to whatever he wishes instead of being locked at this for this, that for that.
Ubisoft may have it's problems, but don't you think you should cast some of that blame on inefficient dev tools, poor architecture, and poor support from an extremely arrogant company?

I myself am getting quite upset with sony in general, from rootkits to trojan machines that force people into a poor HD format. Thanks for the Blu-Ray player that I don't use Sony. Oh, Talledega Nights is only worth $4 in trade-in at Gam...
EU gets boned on the 360 as well in terms of price, but at least they're getting the same equipment that the rest of the world gets.
A higher price is somewhat justified by shipping costs, and tariffs on electronics, but to keep a price point that high when removing functionality seems like a slap in the face to me.
Oh well, it could be worse, you don't get boned by cost nearly as bad as the Aussies do.
But I've noticed nothing wrong with it so far.
I see a company that's trying to cut it's losses and quit while it's ahead. He's not selling for much above cost. But with the borked PS3 that the IK is getting, most of my pals over there refuse to buy now; saying that they refuse to pay more for a console that offers less than the USA or Japan gets.
It's a pretty big stretch to call home "innovation" in any way shape or form. Rather, it's a conglomeration of Second Life, a Microsoft's unified live structure, and the XBox Achievements. But Sony is no stranger to copying other ideas to develop their consoles. Dual Shock, Analog, etc.
I want Sony to come up with something actually innovative instead of imitative, maybe that will curb the liklihood of them getting into further lawsuits (Immersion) and maybe be an eve...
I understand, but the point is that the game is over 20 years old, what bonus is high definition going to confer when the source material is barely even 480i?
I just don't see that (high definition) as beneficial in the slightest to actual gameplay.
You know, I have Dragons Lair on DVD, the original Don Bluth arcade game, that works on any DVD player, so why do I need it on BluRay?
The Dreamcast was an amazing games console. Not only did it have quite possibly the best gameplay of the day, it dominated the PS2 graphically. The only reason it failed was because of the dismal mistake of the Saturn.
That said, I'm surprised they actually sold as well at launch as they did, considering Sony borked the PAL units by removing the EE from the units. Not only did they do that (probably to save costs), but they still charged more for them in the EU than we paid ove...

A great adage that should be heeded, especially when you're strugging with something like this.

A propoganda piece? From Reuters?
You sir, are a truly simple creature.
... always a class act.
It doesn't have to be, the audio data is compressed and 1.3 allows for uncompressed audio. Oddly enough, if you have a decent THX cert 5.1 or 7.1 system, guess which sounds better? XBox 360 has a much more powerful audio processor than the PS3, so the HDMI 1.2 vs. 1.3 argument is kind of retarded. the open memory structure on the 360 also allows programmers to donate more to audio if they wish. Most of the compressed data on the 360 games is Mathmatically Lossless, which negates the need for ...
@12 It should be current standard (1.3)
I'm getting one because my HD is full, and I have a very sexy TV that I'd like to get that little bit extra out of.
The color is cool, but that's a minor thing, as faceplates and controller case mods can make whatever color you want anyway. Selling my 360 Premium for $275 to my buddy.
Yeah, you're an idiot. Read the profile? I don't think he even owns a 360. He does have a PS3 however.

Well done. Bravvisimo.
Those prices are pretty steep in some areas, they could really take a cue from the LIVE Marketplace with the standardized costs (I.E. $5 or $10).
At the risk of instigating the ire of the Sony fanboys, I'll say this.
With $20 downloads, it seems Sony is making up for their 'free' online service by charging like a bastard for the content.
The PSP games should be no more than $4.99, and that's if they were truly amazing.
