It's really the best time ever to be a PC gamer.
I own a PS4 and Wii U as well but there's no question that with mods and multiple control setups, PC is dominating my game time.
New games are great but the are LONG dry spells with almost nothing to play so why not fill those periods up with great old games! I've recently gone back and played a bunch of retro games like:
Shining Force (the whole series)
Vandal Hearts 1
Ace Attorney (all of them)
all the Fire Emblem games
Persona 3 and 4
Ace Combat series

I'm going to miss Valkyria Chronicles strategic gameplay. This is more like an 3rd person action game with the "Valkyria" name slapped on it.
Maybe I'll still like it for different reasons but Valkyria Chronicles was like the last vestige of Sega's awesome strategy games like Shining Force. It's just brutal to see it go. <:(
Couldn't buy the special edition so I went and bought XCOM 2.
If Nintendo won't let me buy their products I will take my money elsewhere. Also, XCOM>>>>> Fire Emblem any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Better Tactical Gameplay, Better Graphics, More epic soundtrack and mod support.

You know what I miss about the PS2 era (and earlier)?
Fully functional, complete games with no day 1 DLC.
EA, Ubisoft and Activision are the worst offenders. It's because of them that I no longer buy games on day one anymore. I usually wait a few months-a year before I buy anything. IMO, they should not even announce a release date until the game is polished and ready.

I'd say Path of Radiance is the best of the bunch. Best Story, best characters and its easily the most polished in the series. FE7 was also REALLY good. Awakening is great for noobs but it has a lot of flaws. I hear that FE4 is the favorite of long time fans but since the fan translations are incomplete at best, I haven't played it yet.
We need another home console FE game of the caliber of Path of Radiance. Get on it, Nintendo!

I loved how varied the first 11 or 12 Final Fantasy games were. The only thing tying them together was the name "Final Fantasy" and a few reused elements like the Moogles and Cid. Why are they trying to make like a trilogy at a time now? Are they just running out of ideas?
The Valkyria Chronicles trilogy was AMAZING! Best strategy RPG series in years. I highly recommend it. The fan translation of VC3 is actually really great and all VC fans should play it as it has the BEST story of the trilogy.

I agree that the Shining Force series is amazing but... its dead. Sega let it whither and die and I'm never going to forgive them for it. No, not even Valkyria Chronicles can calm this fury.
My experience with the Fire Emblem series is almost the opposite of yours. I started with FE7 and played until the current release. The GBA titles wet my appetite but it was Path of Radiance that stole my heart. I hope you enjoy PoR as much as I did.
