Conclusion: if anything this decision should force gamers to wait for reviews instead of pre ordering blind. To me this is good news as it might start forcing people to wait rather then pre order.

What failings? The game is fine and interesting albeit short.
The world they created is super interesting. Sony should definitely get the sequel or another iteration of this world in the pipeline.

You can review the game after the title releases. Nothing wrong with that.
Pre order bonuses aren't suddenly invalid if a game is bad. A pre order bonus remains a bonus despite reviews. The problem are the amount of pre orders... People shouldn't pre order period.
