hardly ever take MSM seriously. when I do read them I look for specific details that interest me. not their yes/no opinion.in the case of this article it does articulate some of the issues I have with the story. It was possible to pull of a great story after that early death but the writer over-complicated it with the non-liner narrative and excessive use of both "plot armor" and “plot induced stupidity” in almost every cutscene.
constantly dreamed of Housemarque doing a full 3D bullet hell game. from the glimpses in the trailer they seem to have nailed it.
Velocity Architecture will not go faster than the hardware, it's just a marketing buzzword for decompression.
because everything that preceded it didn't work.
hubris makes you not realize your "lack of fresh ideas and triteness", and makes you waist time and resources on bad projects.
so after that wall of text you basically agree with me.
Lost Legacy was good but not great. It wasn't bad but the start of the decline in quality. I thought it was a one off but it's becoming a trend.
@MWH & @anonymousfan
Thank you.
so far the only defense some have for the game is that..
1) critics are Xbox fanboys
2) critics are anti-something
this would most likely mean that those who defend the game are just doing so because they are the opposite of these 2 things and not doing it because the game deserves it.
that's just one event, I'm talking the constant plot turns after getting jumped after going through doors. and Ellie dropping the map with an explicit base marker. or Abby writing her exact address and leaving it on the boat. or Abby giving up her location without verifying who she is talking with. the list goes on and on and on...
as for Jole, time actually makes you more experienced not less. Jackson for sure would be under constant attacks from Zombies and human...
actually well thought out critique, while we have gone trough how Abbys arc was a narrative failure, in this piece we explore why Ellies arc is even a bigger narrative failure. do give it a read.
Ending it at the 1st time in the farm would have saved the game.
and it would really be a unique ending in gaming since it ends in defeat, but realizing you have things and people to live for even if you still struggle with ghosts. that would actually reflect reality since most people lose many battles but still push on and cling to the positive things they still have.
I feel ND are on a decline ever since the U4 upheaval. Starley steadied the ship until U4 released but since then it's been a downward slop.
remember this happened to Sony Santa Monica, they were originally the A team for Sony. but hubris ruined the studio. Barlog essentially rebuilt the main team to restore it.
I wounder if there are a few of those Sony PR guys trolling critics over here.
@sampsonon
chill bro.
all the vitriol and anger is coming from Druckerman fans. guy is a hack not a misunderstood genius. the esteem you give this bad story is all made up in your head.
"you're meant to be challenged on that initial knee jerk reaction."
sorry I needed to be more thoughtful reacting to Abby torturing an old man to death.
and also ignore her indifference to the killing of children.
and ignore she was about to participate in genocide.
and ignore she went for revenge again and killed another of Ellies friends.
and ignore she was about to murder a pregnan...
was being sarcastic :P
Video should be called Rationalization TLOU2.
and If you need to link a video explaining the game than that is proof the director failed. Druckerman was supposed to convey all that through his work not through his apologists.
the claim is TLOU2 did something new, I don't see it that way and made examples. correct me if I'm wrong. lets have a healthy discussion
It's not a good look for Druckmann when his fans can't argue for his vision and only resort to personal attacks. you are just proving the negative reviews right.
@SunGod
Druckmann said TLOU2 isn't fun. I agree with him.
@travestyj
Bruce Starley was the lead on U4 and TLOU1. Its obvious now Starley was the adult pulling the vision together.
@morganfell
usually higher management doesn't follow details like plot development, and just monitor public perception. and up to the games release our perception was great. though one guy that hinted at TLOU2 being a mistake was Shawn Layden, his comments are more likely alluding to this game. he was hinting that if you ...
they could have ended it the 1st time at the farm. what exactly happened to make Ellie change her mind at the last moment on the beach? nothing. it was just a random plot switch. the story was full of such things.
