Going of the arguments made buy ps3 fans the 360 has more consoles out there so if there are still copies available than its because there are less to sell on the ps3.
Copies still in the shop round your way doesn't mean the ps3 has outsold the 360.
More consoles means more copies to make and sell so a greater chance copies still available and higher sales.
Thats if you use the ps3 fans arguments about their being more 360s
