...and this is exactly why I bought a PS4. It's the superior console. As the generation gets further in and games continue to push hardware, this difference is only going to get MORE pronounced.
If anything, Bethesda is probably doing a 'console parity' job on the game because of their long partnership history with Microsoft. By rights, the PS4 version should be the superior console version (as is the case with most 3rd party titles). But if they came out with 1080p PS4/900p Xbone specs, that would probably rub MS the wrong way, seeing as they've partnered up for all this "exclusivity" and "bundle" business.
Basically, the PS4 version...
While I am no fan of Microsoft, I have to admit that $400 is a RIDICULOUS deal for a 1TB console, + FO4 + FO3. Kudos to them for making that happen. Will definitely kick their holiday sales into gear, no doubt.
LoL Amazing comment!
Vote with your dollars, people...if a $10 discount seems like a rip-off for an incomplete game (which it is), DON'T BUY IT. Plain and simple.
MGSV, Wasteland 2 (PS4), and Mad Max are all being pushed aside for FO4 this fall/winter in my home. Furthermore, I stopped my Witcher 3 turn to go back and do another set of FO3 and New Vegas turns in preparation!
THIS! Agreed 100%, Foxtrot. At launch, the Xbox One was $100 more than the PS4, with inferior performance on nearly all multiplat titles. It's a pretty cut-and-dry situation, IMO. Unless you're the most die-hard Halo and/or Forza fan in the world, getting an Xbone just seems senseless...who wouldn't want to play the superior versions of titles?!
There's no doubt that TW3 is literally a huge achievement (particularly for a studio the size of CDPR); I have pumped close to 100 hours into my turn, and still have much to see & do. That said, every time I sit down to play it, I can't help noticing the HUGE influence BioWare (particularly Dragon Age Inquisition) has had on the major systems and mechanics of this game - from the world map/'pseudo-open world' design, to certain elements of combat, dialogue, inventory, craf...
Nintendo is a wreck. Almost three weeks after Satoru Iwata's death, they STILL have not decided on (or at least announced) his successor. You'd think with the fact that his health issues were well known (he missed E3 2014 after all), they would have had those decisions made months in advance for a quick transition.
Unless they pull an absolute miracle card out of their hat for the NX, I don't see them presenting any threat to either Microsoft or Sony. The next co...
...'Cause the Xbox One can't handle that sh*%!
Sure, we can split hairs all day over semantics. You say resolution affects graphics, but 'isn't graphics'. But as you even said below, they are "semi-independent" of one another, implying a semi-dependence as well; if CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3 in 480p resolution, the graphics would look like sh*t, regardless of how well-designed the textures, lighting assets, etc. were.
How about we lump it all into the category of "visual fidelity"...
Actually, it seems that quite a few mechanics in Witcher 3 are directly lifted from Dragon Age (radial menu, horse riding/summoning, etc.)
C'mon...it's a bit early for April Fools' jokes, isn't it?
Obviously, Iwata hasn't played a BioWare game recently...
Hilarious that people actually "disagree" with my comment. There's nothing to debate here, folks. Nintendo made NO reference to frame rate in the Direct video- you can see and hear for yourselves.
Please note: I'm not saying that Smash Bros. Wii U WON'T run at 60 fps...I'm just pointing out that Nintendo made no mention of it; thus as it stands, this article is spreading false rumors.
If you watch the actual Direct video, you'll see Nintendo does NOT confirm 60 fps. All they confirm is 1080p resolution. There is no mention of frame rate at all.
Nintendo DID NOT confirm that the game runs at 60 fps. ALL they confirmed was the 1080p resolution. Maybe if people actually watched the Nintendo Direct instead of jumping onto click-bait rumor articles on N4G, gamers would be a bit more educated about what they're talking about...
Haven't touch a COD game since 2012, and this definitely isn't going to change that...looks like same sh*t with double-jumping.
Uhhhh, pretty sure FALLOUT 4 will be the biggest hit of 2015.
@str8duval
"If anything the xbox version have ran better on most multi plats as of late..." Oh really? Like MGSV and the upcoming Starwars Battlefront? Please name ONE multiplat title that performs better on the Xbone than the PS4.
The PS4 has consistently featured higher resolution, better lighting and even higher framerate performance on a wide cross-section of multiplat titles since the current-gen consoles launched almost two years ago.
