This guy is such a self-important hipsto-gamer. For a good laugh, read his FO4 review. He says BethSoft makes geography irrelevant by allowing fast travel within FO4 (have you played an RPG in the last 20 years, dude?!), then laments the fact that you need to unlock a perk in order to facilitate resource-sharing between settlements...
So, he *doesn't* like the fact that on-foot travel can be ignored- yet he *wishes* resource-sharing was automatic. Go figure.
I played a lot of Bloodborne for about a month, but it was ultimately too stressful for me, as lame as that might sound. For me, the fun factor needs to be there first and foremost. While I did have fun with BB at points, the endless deaths and high degree of trial and error ended up burning me out.
I enjoy challenging games. However, spending two days attempting to defeat a boss deflates the motivation. And once I finally defeat said boss, I often found myself saying "J...

BWAAHAAAHAAA!!!
Welcome home, Kojima-san!
...meanwhile, the tumbleweeds are rolling over in the Xbox camp...
THIS 100%.
People don't (and shouldn't) forget how shockingly awful the lead-up to, and launch of the Xbox One was. It was a disaster of epic proportions. Don't know how else to frame it...Meanwhile, Sony promised a more powerful, elegant, gimmick-free console than its competition and released exactly that- no more, no less.
Sure, Sony has had its share of 1st party struggles with The Order: 1886 and Drive Club (upon initial release). However, Bl...
What a sh8#e excuse for an article. Go back and really PLAY Fallout: New Vegas and tell us how the combat hasn't improved. Utterly laughable...
For me, GOTY is easily FO4, with The Witcher 3 being a close second. Incredible game. Lighting, color palette and shadows easily make up for the overall dated nature of the engine. It's quite obvious that BethGameStudios were milking the Creation/Gamebryo legacy stuff for one more title, so they can concentrate on an entirely ...
Boy, oh boy. How do I break this down so you'll understand? When choosing dialogue options in Fallout 4, you are given short prompts *reflective of the essential emotive/verbal content you'll express*. In other words, it requires a modicum of abstract, deductive reasoning on the player's part- which you either apparently lack, or are unwilling to 'hang with'. Again (Groundhog Day, anyone?!) with the "Hate Newspapers" prompt, you are given the option to *express y...
@sullynathan
You never made any articulate points to begin with...your original point was "Fallout 4 is not an RPG, stop calling it one." I refuted it with broad examples that you didn't like, so you resorted to "garbage, garbage, blah, you suck!"
Again, "Hate Newspapers" is a two-word prompt. You character doesn't actually say, "ME HATE NEWSPAPERS RAAAH." You want a detailed rebuttal of your "point"? ...
And from the bullet point comments you obviously stole from around the internet, it's perfectly clear that you haven't played Fallout 4 OR MGSV. Rather, you'd prefer to inform your opinion of FO4 on sensationalized, ill-informed internet ranting, because it happens to be the 'fashionable game to hate on' right now.
Maybe play Fallout 4 for a few hours and see for yourself, rather than making poor assumptions based on 'teh internetz' raging.
I love it...you specifically brag how you've been downvoted, yet no one's "pointed out how you're wrong." I then do so, in a very articulate, detailed manner; your reply is "Fallout 4 has the depth of a puddle".
My work here is clearly done.
I get it...you're angry. You used the word "garbage" three times and resorted to calling me names. Yelling louder doesn't make your point any more valid. You call me a Bethesda shill, yet it's painfully obvious you've spent next to no time actually PLAYING Fallout 4. You're all "vague generalized examples I read on the internetz" or "it sux it's garbage" to make our points. You use one specific example ("Hate Newspapers") to erra...
I get full well that Fallout 4 is the 'fashionable game to bash on' right now. That said, I'll bet most of you here saying FO4 is "a joke" and "shouldn't even be considered for GOTY" have NOT played it, plain and simple.
Spend five hours with FO4, actually playing the game rather than reading ill-informed opinion pieces and sensationalized generalization on 'teh internetz' and tell me it doesn't deserve consideration for GOTY. ...
All due respect to your opinion, gotta disagree. I spent a lot of time with both games as well. On console (PS4), any graphical superiority in TW3 over FO4 is negligible at best. Calling FO4 "barely an upgrade" either means you haven't spent much time with Fallout 4, or you haven't played Fallout 3 in a long time...EVERY aspect, from visuals, to shooting & gun handling, to weapon, armor, food, chem crafting/customization, to dialogue, to character progression, to settlem...
I played a LOT of Bloodborne, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 this year- I enjoyed my time with all three games; but Fallout 4 is GOTY, hands-down.
While I understand that each is entitled to their own opinion, I also firmly believe that FO4 has a target on its back because it's the "fashionable game to hate". I bet a lot of folks commenting are 'informing their opinions' of Fallout 4 from internet hearsay and generalizations, rather than actually playing the ...
So an RPG has to be a turn-based, table-top affair with folks rolling D20s with piles of rule books sitting around?
Dude, "open-world shooters" like Far Cry owe their existence to the template set by Fallout 3 back in 2008. Most shooters (open world or not) don't hold a candle to Fallout 4's depth/size of world, character customization & progression, moral choices, dialogue system and nuances, elaborate settlement building...I could go on and on.
I am one of those (now) eight disagrees; I'll be happy to state in clear terms why this is the case.
1) Your argument is that FO4 isn't an RPG because the protagonist has a 'created back-story'...news flash: MOST RPGs, from Final Fantasy, to Dragon Age, to Mass Effect to The Witcher have detailed back-stories. You note as such at the end of your comment regarding the books/ancillary lore that Geralt is based on. The Witcher's back story is actually far mo...
This article begins by stating that TES III: Morrowind was BGS' first game. I would think the roman numeral THREE would be a big enough clue this is not the case. LOL
Then it proceeds to state that Fallout 4's main story is neither compelling, or interesting; despite the fact that FO4's main story is not only BethSoft's BEST main story ever, but arguably one of the best main stories of any game released this year.
I stopped reading after the f...
Yeah, and COD had a one-week head start. Whoopdee-do...
Funny how I've had no performance issues on my PS4 version, no problems with 'mis-chosen/misrepresented dialogue'; roughly 10-12 hours in, I've had a mostly fantastic experience across the board (including settlement building). Gerstmann gets more and more cynical and jaded by the year. I can't stand Giant Bomb's 'hipper than thou' vibe.
Next.
Please post a link to any copy-and-pasted textures or other assets from FO: New Vegas- otherwise, you're talking out your a$@.
The irony here is that Obsidian's FO: New Vegas borrowed a LOT of textures (in fact, an entire unmodified engine) from BethSoft's FO3.
News flash: MANY AAA titles across the industry run on enhanced, modified, upgraded or otherwise 'iterated' versions of older engines. It's standard practice that allows creat...
