It is called the Switch. like switch back and forth from home and mobile. They named the damn thing with portable gaming in mind.

No, it won't be "much better", it will be slightly better though. It is also at the discretion of the developer. Any old game will have to be patched to take advantage of the Pro so it depends on the developer if they will do that. All new games going forward will have a Pro mode to increase frame rate and visuals. Nothing about the gameplay will change from regular PS4 to Pro. It will only look a little better and smoother frame rate.

I only played through the game once, but I would suggest to save your shotgun or minigun shots for the birds. I would always try to keep one of those weapons in my dominate hand with as much ammo as possible.
