No kidding. The writer was expecting too much. How much more innovative can shooters get anyway? At it's core, a shooter is always going to be pointing your weapon at something and blowing it away. The author complains that this is the same. What the heck was he expecting exactly?
Nobody WILL raise a stink because it's an add-on service, not your main console. It's also different where you aren't downloading everything, you are streaming it. Maybe by the time PS5 comes around, people and the network infrastructure will be ready for it, but we aren't ready for it now.

Even though it replaces data on your drive already, you still have to download the 13GB, which can be ridiculously long if you have a slow connection or eat up bandwidth if you have a cap. Mine didn't download while in standby because I had the game suspended, so the next time I logged in I had to forget about playing since 13GB takes 4-5 hours to download for me.

All MS is doing is making people bitter with these freebies. If you can't give them out to everybody, you're inevitably going to have some angry people that missed out.

Sliding, clambering over walls, dynamic maps, etc have all been done elsewhere. Doesn't mean it won't be fun, but don't call it innovative.
