The game felt better when it was linear (Alan Wake) than when it was a bunch of large hub worlds (American Nightmare). Open world would be even worse.
Only way it would work would be if daylight was open and had no storyline, just finding pages, hints, objects, places and talking to locals, then becoming linear at night, for the combat and actual storyline.
The "mindfuck" storyline doesn't work at all when you give the player control of when and...
Then you don't like real action games, plain and simple. Character dsign and writing in Bayonetta was awful, but gameplay was the apex of the genre this gen.
You can always go back to simplistic ones like God of War, or even worse, 30fps ones. There are plenty of those.
Killzone
LBP
Resistance
SOCOM
Nobody gives a shit about any of those series. They're not even B-tier.
It means that people that can't afford it will be able to?
Or maybe everyone criticizing this buys EVERYTHING cash, on the spot? Your house? Your car? Newsflash: there's people out there that are still on PS2 because they can't pay $199, but they can save $99 then $15 extra every month.
How's a janky, 30fps, simplistic, badly animated action game made by a team that has made ONE good game in their entire existance going to "supersede" Bayonetta?
Hopefully Sony will make a console with enough memory to handle a game like Skyrim or Fallout this time, instead of only tiny scripted games like Uncharted or God of War.
Sony has more passes than Microsoft.
Battle of linearity and "cinematic" hand-holding = whoever wins, we lose.
(Hoping the rumors of non-linear COD are true, though)
Reading it wrong. Think "cellphone".
Killzone isn't better than a random flash FPS, let alone Halo. And Heavy Rain? Come on now. Get serious.
Crysis 1 on consoles is as big as on PC. Stop making up lies to make PC gamers feel better about themselves.
Crysis 2 was garbage but it had nothing to do with consoles. It was about trying to make a "cinematic", hand-holding experience like so many "AAA" games nowadays.
Crsysi 3 still not going fully back to total C1 freedom is lame. Sound like it'll be smaller sandboxes like Halo, with ocasional shitty cinematic trash like COD, BF3, ...
Like Uncharted did? Oh wait, it didn't. It was mediocre compared to most online shooters.
Burnout Paradise and Ridge Racer Unbounded prove you wrong. EVen the last NFS sold badly.
Multiplayer is a turd hanging over single player games.
This will be as mediocre as Uncharted's multi.
You blind? The HUD is right there! AND Frankie confirmed himself that's in-game, not a cutscene.
You say that like changing the setting would change much. Uncharted is still a TPS like so many out there.
Unless it's Vanquish or RE4, most TPS games feel pretty damn close.
Just Sony being Sony.
Uncharted was confirmed by Naughty Dog themselves as being mandated as a response to Gears of War (the game they wanted to make was very different). Killzone and Resistance were made as a response to Halo. The list is endless.
Yep.
The rumor about it being a Kinect game may make some people cry...
Even if you're not a fan of shooters (i'm not), it's worth it, Even if for the campaigns alone.
The sandbox feel and the super-sharp, clean fidelity of everything are nice, too (which is funny, as with Halo 4 they seem to be lowering the texture quality for the sake of making the graphics more up-to-date, like Crysis 2 or BF3).
