You dont lose by having almost 50% market share, if MS can do the same thing they did with the 360, its a victory from business perspective.
Making enough profit to warrant a continued existence is more important then having the biggest market share, because the last two gens where plenty of proof that market share can shift from one direction to the other.
So all in all, survival is the top priority, and MS wont fail at that.

And how do you know that MS needs to rewrite every object just for a simple online check?

These articles are written by the same people who said no to MS because of the policy's.

Doubt it, kinect has nothing to do with Online gaming.
Kinect is used for motion gaming, which can be online, but doesnt have to be.
MS opened 7 new studio's since 2011, which have all been working on XB1 titles.
They have about 14 in house studio's now, and about 5 third party studio's that develop exclusively.
Would be a bit strange if they produce only 3 franchises.
Besides, there where more then three first party franchises show already on E3.
Not much, Sony fans side with Sony, MS fans side with MS.
Some of both these groups will get the other console sometimes later.
And some new fans will be introduced to gaming.
The real question is, who's gonna succeed drilling for new market segments?
Which would be almost exactly the same hardware as that of the competition.

MS OS's are written with Object oriented programming languages, all they have to do it trow away some object from their source code, and good to go.
But dont take it from someone with nearly 10 years of experience in IT.
And you can always tether with your phone if you have no internet.

Good is a matter of perspective.
I own both a 360 and a Ps3, and i just prefer the style of the Xbox exclusives.
Play games, not specs, it has no use to play specs this gen, as the specs are closer then they ever where before.
If you really want to play specs anyway, get a pc, then youl have multi's at 60+fps
If it turns out they do monitor, we simply protest protest.
Then everybody can put a picture of an hairy asshole in front of the cam, until they stop spying.
But i am pretty sure they dont spy, cause with EU laws they take a big risk.
And do take note i do not consider data mining to be spying, because everybody would be a spy then, and has been since the 90ies.
