Yes that was one reason that Xbox Live wasn't picked up so fast at first. Noone really knew about it and to drop 50$/year on it would've hurt the service more then helped. Now that people know that Xbox Live is a superior service that offers many features it was able to take off when Xbox 360 launched.
Xbox Live also helped PSN get attention as people were able to see the success of an online gaming experience through Xbox Live.

those are downloadable games. Arcade games are fun games you can pick up and drop whenever you want.

In Oblivion they still had enough space to use 1.5-2 more GB of data. They didn't because thats the way they design their games.

Dumbass, Your not figuring in that when Xbox Live launched noone knew about it or trusted it. Now its gained peoples trust and showed this it is a great online service. The 6 million figure is how old now? We no longer know the actual figure anymore seeing as the 6 million figure is months old.
Xbox Live is the superior service and offers great online play over many games(not just two).
BTW Elder Scrolls on Xbox 1 was 6-7 GB. Launch X360 titles were only about 3-4 GB and i've yet to hear an X360 dev complain about space.
Every game has loading times whether they are masked by cinematics or not. Compression allows more information to be sent from the disc to the console at one time so you had faster load times.
The HD versions of game are starting to get smaller then their SD definition counterparts in older generations with the creation of better compression techniques.
I bet you it can be compressed under 8 GB.
