They aren't forcing you to buy anything its your choice whether to spend your money on Xbox Live or not. Hell the Xbox Live Marketplace is practically cheap for instance both Arcade Games Roboblitz and Mad Tracks cost $10+ on PC compared to Xbox Live. Also if you do not believe in paying for DLC and so on you need to remember that the companies that make that DLC have put money into developing and marketing it and its only fair they charge for it.
