With all the talk about Mantle aswell its a very interesting time. I wont hide my hatred for Direct X and hope these new systems make it obsolete.
Xbox will also save to the HDD and its up to you to upload it to XBox live. It will not continuously upload video footage via your internet connection.
On the PS4 I think you can edit the last 15 mins on the system but it can continuously keep recording and there is no time limit on that but probably will due to space.
So not sure if the Xbox can do continuous recording.
Totally agree. NVidia really need to shut up its getting annoying. I buy Nvidia cards and even they are making me think about going AMD next time.

If you havn't used Linux its a modular system so running other things when you need them only uses those resources at that time.
I just can't wait until I can click on the download Steam OS. I am as giddy as when I saw the PS4 specs. This year is turning out to be awesome for games.
Headline is misleading. It says they are not working on the ps4.
But that is the whole point is that gamers want to migrate it's just there was no viable option till now where developers can start creating game. It has to start from somewhere. I currently dual boot but I would love to completely delete windows.
Hopefully break the shackles of direct x. Microsoft made sure opengl is not as good on windows by not allowing full low level integration.
Linux is NOT a complicated OS. It is just as easy as using windiws . probably easier. Installing apps is done by downloading a deb file and running it. It will automatically install dependencies for you if the app required it and doesn't moan about it like windows.
Linux was once a more complicated is but it no longer is. I am at the stage of switching completely if devs start releasing AAA games for it.

Same here. When you only have a small amount of space in a media center. Trying to fit onkyo, center speaker, tivo, HP microserver, network hub, 360, wii & ps3. As you say the min you try and fit the 360 or the wii it screw it all up trying to hide a great big brick. admittdly the wii one was smaller but the same diff. Hate the power brick on the tivo as well but that is the same size as the wii.
Really pisses me off when they keep talking about how Xbox was going to be anything like steam.

nothing to do with them using there own memory card but the price at which they wanted to sell them at. Nearly 80 to 100 quid for a 32gb memory stick was out of the question.

The game will install to the HDD so it wont use the disc. But you need the disc in order to authenticate the game. Unless you buy digital which I pretty much am going to this new gen.
This is done automatically so you don't have to specifically ask it to install like 360 and PS3.
This game looks really good. Definitely on my list to purchase.

That just mean the console can do anything that is in the DX and OpenGL libraries and a lot more. Nothing more than a compatibility matrix. The console does not use Direct X.
