It doesn't have to be. The hardcore audience has already jumped in. Microsoft is just expanding its audience with Kinect and bring in casuals. What's wrong with that? Why is everybody trying to bring down Kinect? So far it's selling like hotcakes and a lot of non gamers are loving it. Why bash it? It's a success.
I agree. A next gen Steel Battalion with a newer more awesome controller would be great. I imagine the Kinect version is going to suck the big one.

Microsoft recognized the problem and fixed the problem for free with an extended warranty. Contrary to popular sony fanboy belief, the newer chips solved the problem. And all the other errors you mention are your typical wear and tear that effect all electronics.

Many ps3 owners used a bigger hard drive especially since lots of games need to be installed.
