Not sure where all the wishful thinking is coming from. They don't have anything at this point to cause shock and awe. Sony isn't going to have anything surprising either at this E3 because we know what everyone's working on. Big bombs don't drop at this point in a console's lifecycle. The only way MS shocks is if they announce their next gen console or they reveal they're buying a big publisher or entering into a long-term exclusivity deal with one of them. Neither is...
Doesn't matter how powerful a console is if it doesn't have the games to play on it. Yeah Forza, Halo, and Gears aren't playable on Playstation, but Uncharted, Gran Turismo, The Last of Us, Horizon, God of War, Spider-man, Detroit, etc...plus a load of 3rd party exclusives aren't playable on Xbox.
Hell, I can play Forza and Gears on PC.
Realistically the only way MS has a big E3 is if they announce they bought one of EA, Activison, Ubisoft, CD Projekt, or Rockstar. Anything else means little as they don't have any big franchises to show off a surprise sequel (outside of knowns like Halo, Gears, Forza), and they won't have any ambitious new IPs to show that'll come out this year or next or the year after. They don't really have many first party devs to begin with.
Securing a big 3rd party (t...
It's not just an over the shoulder camera. The entire game takes place with one single shot. That means there are no fades to black. There are no cuts between one location to another. There are no loading screens. From the moment you start the game to the end credits, there are no interruptions. They use one camera and it never shuts off. I've seen it done in movies but doesn't happen a lot in games.
Of course if you die or quit the game there are cuts but that&...
They're doing everything in their power to recoup the costs incurred by this game, directly and indirectly, over 10 years of on again/off again development.
Fleshing out an ending I'm fine with but if they make drastic changes to the ending, that's just ridiculously stupid. Stick to your guns and leave it be. Don't be a Bioware or George Lucas and mess with what you originally did. Also, kind of a kick to the throat of people who bought and supported the gam...
Sony already started 2018 with Shadow of the Colossus Remake, Ni No Kuni II, and MLB The Show 18. Followed by Yakuza 6, God of War, Detroit, and Spider-Man. By year's end, they'll average at least 1 exclusive per month. That's insane.
They don't seem to be giving it away for free. They're letting people play it for free for the next 4 days. Once that period is up, you don't have access to it anymore.
They weren't considered among the best devs in the world when they were making Crash games. They hit the big time with Uncharted 2.
Is this an April Fool's article? Santa Monica Studio was A League before Naughty Dog even. It was basically SSM and Polyphony.
We're approaching year 5 for the xbox. Anything big they announce now won't be out for another 2 years. Sony's first party studios have revealed their last games for this generation. God of War, Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon/Gran Turismo (last year). Those studios won't be making any more PS4 games. They'll be working on PS5 titles.
I'd have to imagine that Microsoft's studios are looking ahead too now after forfeiting this gen. It...
Doesn't matter how powerful (or weak) your console is. It's all about the game library and Sony/Nintendo have it. MS has nothing outside of Halo and Gears, two franchises on the downturn. Forza is their only success. You can't be successful simply relying on 3rd party games.
You also need to know what to invest in and what not to. Sea of Thieves was a dud from the moment it was announced. Scalebound had potential. Which got canceled and which was released? Idiot...
It doesn't sound like it was a "nightmare." It just sounds like they set some guidelines and expected people to follow them. I was expecting to read about a Marvel employee standing behind every non-Marvel employee and nitpicking everything all day every day.
But yes, Marvel was being unreasonable by not allowing their characters to be "beaten up" in a fighting game. I mean, the title is Marvel versus Capcom.
Thankfully all of Sony's first party studios are single player focused.
lol, boring combat in God of War? They're joking right? God of War 2 and 3 are a couple of the most fun games of all time.
I absolutely LOVE The Last of Us. It's in my top 5 all time favourite games, but the combat isn't exactly the highlight. Yeah I like how meaty the melee combat is but that only happens a handful of times throughout the game and the shooting isn't among the best in the genre either. From previews I've watched, the fighting in GoW is n...
Which Kratos? GoW1-3 or the upcoming one? I NEED ANSWERS!
That's why it's on Game Pass and not being sold for $70. They knew they couldn't sell it on its own.
I've been staying away from actual info on the game but it supposedly has no camera cuts and is one continuous shot for the entire play through. So...maybe once you finish it, you can travel all the way back home if you so choose. Or shut it down.
Would be pretty cool to retrace your steps back home and see all the death and destruction the father and son duo caused. lol. "Hey Atreus, remember when we killed that ogre? His body is still over there."
PS4's 2018 so far is nuts. Shadow of the Colossus Remake, Ni no Kuni II, Yakuza 6, God of War, Detroit, Kiwami 2.
10+ million easily based on Horizon's great numbers.
If someone gave me one for free I wouldn't keep it. I'd sell it.
