The game looks awesome. It's Yakuza with a crazy gangster lawyer protagonist!
The reason I'm iffy on DMC5 is because DMC4 was terrible and then Capcom thought the series needed a reboot and enlisted a Western studio to take it in a different direction (while it was a good game, it wasn't a good DMC game), and now Capcom is back to what they didn't want to continue after DMC4.
They could have focused on 1 character, be it Nero, Dante, or someone new but instead are smashing 3 of them together which just means once we start getting used to...
Ah I see. Still kind of weird considering Superman's body is basically armor.
Square Enix is making an Avengers game.
Regarding the picture above. Why is Superman wearing an armored suit?
Buying a machine that can display the prowess of top tier devs like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Guerilla, Sucker Punch, Insomniac, CDPR, and Rockstar provides plenty of excitement. I want the next PS and XB to be monster machines. Innovations in the gaming space are overrated and amount to gimmicks or underpowered hardware at a premium price. You can't tell me you wouldn't want to play Nintendo first party games with the graphical fidelity that a PS4 or XB1 could provide instead of the...
Character and weapon management? God of War has always had skill trees. All they did in this one is add armor which I hardly think is a direct nod to Darksiders.
Level design? God of War games have always had great level design. If you mean needing skills/abilities to access other areas, that's been in God of War before. You'd often return to areas after having gotten a new power to progress further.
Combat? Nothing about GoW's combat reminds...
"The uber-popular and critically successful recent God War has plenty to thank both Vigil and Gunfire for..."
"...obvious Darksiders nods throughout Santa Monica Studios’ latest effort."
What nods?
I think I saw the game featured on PSBlog as well as a PSUnderground video on Youtube. Pretty sure PS also tweeted about it at least once. Those things aren't exactly expensive advertising avenues that Nintendo isn't capable of doing too.
The statement, "They listened to fans instead" makes it sound like God of War's change in direction was a failure from his point of view.
I'm not saying this franchise needs a reboot or that every IP needs to make drastic changes but DmC happened because Capcom was tired of the same old same old. Now they're just going back to what they were tired of.
Farm out Uncharted to another studio if you must but Naughty Dog should be done with it. Maybe one more Last of Us (since the world is obsessed with trilogies) and then something new is what I'm looking forward to.
Adapting to survive makes sense in theory but honestly speaking, if they weren't making money off of awesome twin stick shooters, they certainly aren't going to hit the jackpot with a low-budget battle royale game. They're one of my favourite devs and I'd love it if they were acquired by Sony. They're basically already Sony exclusive devs anyway (I know they have games on other platforms but the majority has been Sony exclusive).
Sony should buy them and...
Ranks as one of the best crafted games of all time in my book. It does everything extremely well from combat to story to graphics to music to enemy design to EVERYTHING.
The console that has Spider-man and RDR2 is going to win.
Why would VR controllers be listed under "Best Console Game - PS4?"
For a company blasting Sony for not allowing crossplay, they sure do some majorly anticonsumer practices like not allowing someone to sell their game as NEW when it really is new and in packaging and not even allowing Fallout 76 to be sold on Steam.
"Hey Sony, be pro consumer and allow cross play or we won't release the game on PS4."
"Hey gamers, we aren't putting Fallout 76 on the biggest digital storefront, Steam. But you can buy...
Definitely going to be a cross-gen title. They'd want the 90+ million PS4 userbase as well as those wanting to buy into PS5 for the best Horizon 2 experience. Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, and The Last of Us 2 will likely be cross-gen titles as well, not merely BC titles you can play on PS5 but fully utilizing the PS5's power.
Sony's been doing what Sony has always been doing. They've always invested heavily in first party games as well as 3rd party exclusives. And they've created a great number of new franchises, which is something you can't say of Nintendo. They still rely on characters they created in the 80s and 90s to prop up their games. Think about it. Every good first party title, past, present, and future, all revolve around their NES era characters, minus Splatoon.
If Ni...
Microsoft said exclusives don't matter. Even if they didn't outright say it, their actions did. They've been in the business for around 18 years and they haven't fostered a strong first party lineup of studios/IPs yet. 3 gens in for them and they only have Halo and Gears. Forza is great but it's not exactly original. You race licensed cars. 18 years into Sony's console business they had tons of new franchises and studios.
One of the perils of being a launch game imo. People really shouldn't wish for their favourite devs to make games for a new platform at launch from their favourite franchises. It's better if they just do a remaster or something else to get their feet wet before diving into a full fledged title. If Second Son came out a few years into the PS4's life, it would have been a better game.
Anyway, it's not really a worthy comparison. Spider-man wins by a longshot. ...
