From what I gather (haven't played it myself) people seem to have fun with the moment to moment gameplay, it's just kind of lacking in stuff right now. It seems like this could really turn out great through updates, hopefully they don't get discouraged by backlash and just keep making it better.
It's a new venture for them, I'd like to see them follow through with this and turn it into something.
Oh no, I haven't checked it out yet. I only watch a couple of shows on Netflix and Hulu, hopefully this doesn't turn it into a sh!tshow..

We'll probably get some new ability from the "end boss" that will let us access new places with end game content and optional bosses.

I haven't played Far Cry since 3, I picked up 5 because I need something to mess around with while I'm waiting for God of War to drop.
It's fun, it reminds me of a first person Just Cause, there's a ton of stuff to do. I wish there was a little more customisation options for the guns though, but that's a minor nit-pick. Map's huge, and there are a lot of activities.

I went to Cancun and visited Mayan ruins in 2004, it was an amazing experience all around. Knowing this takes place there has definitely peaked my interest.
