Sony said the opposite actually, it was that they would never rush an incomplete product to market or something like that. That they focus on being the best, not the first out. They even recently said they weren't gonna release their specs first because the competition could just see that and 1up them afterward.
Maybe their opinions about Darksiders changed for the positive? Sony itself even (must) think of it as a great game or it wouldn't be available as a free PS+ download.
When the game originally came out I didn't even think of it as comparable to god of war, it just looked like a cool demon themed action game.

I don't have cable, I just download the shows I like on my laptop and stream them to my PS3. My laptop uses firefox with the ad block+
I download songs and hardly ever listen to the radio so I pretty much never see or hear ads.

I'm really hyped for the PS4 but people really need to reel it in. It's gonna be great but don't get tooooo ahead of yourself. The graphical jump isn't going to be enormous and I just hope people keep that in mind before next gen games are officially shown.
