I think the writer of that article got confused about the refrence to spec ops missions; he says something about them not doing an actual campaign but I think what the box art means is that the campaign is about different spec ops missions to the ps3 games, I mean black ops 1 was a series of spec ops missions yet it also had a story going on and they were interconnected not just standalone mission either way I do think this actually sounds promising now just to see it in action :p
Are you saying it had no meaning in The Last of Us deom or that it did, because in what we saw as far as were could see Joel started the violence however clearly it was infact started prior to that point by various survivors attacking you :p

rayman:origins, uncharted are great I just got gravity rush today and it's brilliant so far :) and Motorstorm RC is a must buy over here in the eu it's in a sale aswell but it was less than a fiver anyway and's great fun :p

infamous 2 didn't have many after the side missions were done either :p however you are right this sounds like something you can patch fairly easily I'm sure :p and does 100% mean story mode, or all collectibles too? if it's the latter you'd need all comics etc to get rid of random enemy encounters, Batman: Arkham City (yet again) mastered this random encounters vs "you've beaten the game" thing very well I felt :p
