I saw the Killzone 3 commercial during the NFL Wild Card playoff..I've been giving Sony props every since for finally advertising a game of this caliber during a huge sporting event (ala Modern Warfare 2).

Dead Space was a horror fans dream. Easily one of my favorite gaming experiences this gen. I would play it every night around 11pm until I finished the CLASSIC ending.
I didn't even want to play the demo..day one..GameStop preorder.

Alan Wake got great reviews and was Time Magazine's GOTY (take from that what you will)
But, what hurt the game the most was it was released in May with little fan fare vs. the ACTUAL GOTY Red Dead Redemption which was a take two retail monster and had an immense marketing precense.

Again..the console modding and hacking community was active wayyy before the original Xbox.
That hackers wanted to remove those limitations. Like fixing the DVD drive so it played movies where it couldn't before because MS didn't want it to.
Some was through hardware and some through software. As the consoles became more advance and capabilties of each succeeding console began to grow; so did the capabilities of the hacks.
