Japan only release? Why spend all that money developing the game, only to skimp on translating the game for a global release?
What concerns me is that the PS3 should be shipping in less than 45 days...and they just now announce a change in their HARDWARE??
Hellooo? Shouldn't the PS3 have been finalized by now? Shouldn't there be hundreds, if not thousands, of PS3's being built and beta tested?
Either one of two things will happen:
1) Sony will delay the launch date (again)
2) Sony will produce PS3s at a frenzied pace to release a very small amount on the ac...
Whoa. I wasn't expecting much after last year's disappointment. Wow. The in-game graphics in HD look amazing, close to the real thing.
I was really looking forward to NHL 07. After playing the demo last night, the controls are a little sluggish and I miss the speed burst (come on - it's a video game!).
I like the classic controls with 2K7. Great demo.
This is cleary a GTA ripoff...but it's also pretty damn fun.
I've only played the game for 50 minutes, but I'm liking the hostage and insurance fraud missions.
I didn't like it either. The controls were sloppy and the gameplay was too linear.
Remember there are different television standards. HD has not taken off yet in Japan. Most televisions over there are still 4:3 standard def.
Would you buy a 360 if you couldn't play the games in HD?
This game will come with advertising built in. The billboards and radio stations will rotate ads during the lifespan of the game.
This is why Atari is able to sell the game for $39.99...
It's a nice graphical upgrade from GTA, looks like it's missing the fun gameplay.
What's up with moving around a tiny little cursor to aim? Seems tedious. The GTA auto-lock aiming is much cooler.
Aw yes. The running game is back - you've gotta love the Option run.
Graphics are decent, the game plays great...aside from the bug I found on the very first play of the game (encroachment penalty immediately after calling my defensive play....huh??)
As long as they didn't skimp on the Dynasty features, this game will rock. I dont need new dynasty features, just give me last year's and I'll be happy...
It may look and play like GTA, but GTA has always been about humor. It's an extra element of fun.
Most of the GTA imitators take themselves way too seriously. We'll have to wait and see if Saint's Row can match GTA in the fun department...
Moore actually fought earlier in the same game. That should have been the end of it. That wasn't good enough for Bertuzzi though, he still had to goon it up.
If Naslund could just take his hits like a man instead of trying to duck under them, none of this happens...
I still haven't decided whether I should purchase NHL 07 for the fun gameplay or NHL 2K7 for the in-depth franchise mode (and Big Joe on the cover).
EA always skimps on the extra features, especially when it comes to hockey.
a) Sony has NEVER had an online service. Games are played online through the game developers own servers. There is no central/unified service between games. Sony attached a modem to the PS2. The Sega Geneis and SNES had a modem as well.
b) How is Microsoft following the footsteps of Sony by being first to market by 12 months? Microsoft revealed their hardware at E3 05, Sony released concept specs and still had nothing to show at 06!

Although I suppose it might be true. The 360 version is sounding pretty weak, which probably is the result of too many developers porting the game to the PS3.
It is an exclusive in the sense that it hasnt been announced for PS3 yet. Will they bother to release the game after the PS3 launch? Probably not. They didnt for the 360 last year.
The 360 version will be lacking most of the new features found in the PS2 and Xbox versions. The 360 will feature a "next gen" game engine and new graphics, everything else will be slapdash and buggy.

Anybody know if a roster download is in the works for the 360? DT Linder's rosters for the PS2 greatly improved the game, I hope somebody does something similar this year.
Highly unlikely. Technically the PS3 and Wii will be released by December, however they will be unavailable to track down. Why should MS lower the price tag during the big holiday season when their competition won't even be found on store shelves??
Perfect opportunity to cash in on the availability of the 360. Then, once production ramps up for the PS3 and Wii, MS drops the price.

What's the strategy here? Announce development of the game, stir up some hype, release the game after the buzz dies down and everybody has forgotten about the game.
Release the game already. All they have to do is optimize the game for online play. It's a slow summer, the 360 needs games.
Oblivion is probably my favorite game on the 360 (I've spent over 200 hours playing it).
Although if the 360 uses a 12x DVD-drive and has frequent load time issues, how much slower will it be on a Blu-Ray with 2x speed?
