Man, I really wish things like this would happen more often (the giving away of rare game memorabilia that is). Pretty sick prize just for following Mr. Levine on Twitter; tough to beat that.
I always enjoy getting some insight into the industry, and love developer diaries like these (especially for a game as awesome as Dead Space 2).
I totally agree. My heart sank a little when I first read the date :( There's still some hope that the US release will be earlier, but my best guess is that it will still be August.
I guess that will give me more time to play Crysis 2 and Brink in the meantime.
That weapon looks like it's made for something like Gears of War... Heck, it would have worked quite nicely in Bulletstorm I think.
Hahaha... It'll be good to laugh again while playing some unabashed FPS vulgarity. Bulletstorm is leading the charge.
I definitely agree that the quality of the game seems outstanding. I have yet to play it, but after reading this, I don't see how I can't.
Haha, games are almost instantly more intense whenever dinosaurs are part of the equation.
I was honestly surprised to hear that the campaign was the focus of this game. Watching many of the pre-release videos and trailers it seemed to be geared more towards multiplayer. I'm glad to see the SP campaign got some deserved attention as well.
I can not WAIT for this to hit. I still have my original disc and case, but I will def buy again on PSN. I actually played it on my PC (via an emulator) recently, and the textures and particle effects hold up amazingly well. Such an amazing game; can't wait!
It's great to see that the Okami legacy lives on. Hopefully this miniature version will do the original justice. Based on this preview, it definitely sounds promising.
I definitely agree that this was an awesome and unique article. I imagine it took quite some time to put together, so mega kudos to the author. Thanks!!
Just to reiterate, my intention wasn't to tell people what to do with their money, but to merely make note of charitable causes within the gaming community that are also in need. The purpose of the article was less to instruct, and more to inform (many people are unaware that these charities even exist, and I thought it was worthwhile to give them some deserved attention). I apologize for any confusion however; it's certainly not my place to tell other people how to spend their money....

I couldn't agree more. For someone without the backing of a major studio to produce something like this, with what I think is a high level of authenticity, is truly impressive. When watching Beyond Black Mesa my jaw seriously dropped; I couldn't believe how true to the source it was. I too wish I had the vision and ability to create something so noteworthy.
Keep in mind that this is just the trailer; the full release is scheduled for next Sunday. Check out the linked story for some information regarding the directors previous work... Once Extraction is finished, I think it'll be pretty epic. Here's to hoping!
Please note that this footage is from a very early build of the game. I personally think it still looks great, but in the latest videos and screens it is evident that the engine has progressed quite nicely over the past 6 months. In fact, I'm even considering buying a new PC just to take advantage of some of the DX11 and tessellation effects.
I totally agree with you; I would love to see a game like this put control into the hands of the player, instead of the auto-kill. I'd be willing to sacrifice a cinematic view for full control in those situations. Again though, this is footage from an older build, so perhaps this will change in time for the full release.
With the supposed dark nature of SSX Deadly Descents, I could definitely imagine some snow monsters making their way into the game... That would get us over half way towards the crazy ultimate winter sports game.
It's great to see this game get some attention; a detailed post-mortem is even better.
Thanks for the post Justin! We're extremely excited about our forthcoming Item Shop and can't wait to feature some amazing art along the way. The pieces you've chosen for this article are awesome; that Zelda mural is mind-blowing, and Genzoman is THE man.
