I didn't even bother watching after they tried to control the cursor using mirrors. The remote has to see the sensor bar, not the screen! They know nothing.
That, and the video didn't work in Firefox.
Paper clips and alligator clip wires do not provide the bandwidth necessary for a progressive scan signal. Do this and you'll probably see noise or interference, like dim red lines crawling across the screen. I guess if you were really desperate you could try this, but you really need to get regular cables for a real "fix".
The Wii is a great console if you want to actually relax while playing games. It's also a very social console for playing with other people in the same room. I put this sort of human interaction while gaming above online gaming.
And if I want to do any "hardcore gaming", I've got my PC. Sure, it costs more than a PS3, but I can also do word processing, photo editing, video editing, internet surfing, and C++ compiling on it!
The text for this article is poorly written. It's not that you don't need a sensor bar, it's that you don't need a sensor bar if you have a pair of IR emitters you can use for replacements. The information is interesting, though.
Ever since Tom's Hardware Guide reorganized, the quality of the articles has tanked. This is a real shame, as it used to be one of my favorite sites; it's was the only place that did a real thorough review on LCD monitors.

This game is looking pretty sweet. I like the way the video is set up, using CGI models of the Wii remote and Nunchuk to show how the game is being controlled. It's much better than superimposing footage of the real controller, and gives a great feel for the game controls.
Ooo, Kirby's Adventure. I remember that one; it was fun.
But what is Pilot Wings? I remember playing a game called Pilotwings, which was also a lot of fun, but I'm unfamiliar with this Pilot Wings.
Hogan's Alley is really cool, but I wonder how they're going to replicate the Light Gun? Will there be a cursor on the screen, or will you actually have to look down the length of the Wii Remote to aim? I hope the answer is close to the later than the former. Sam...
As long as Nintendo offers whoever holds the rights to Goldeneye enough money, it'll get on the VC. It's always a question of money.

So, was I the only one who got the Buck Roger's joke? I thought it was pretty funny, but I'd be surprised if any of the young'ns got it. It kind of made me feel old, actually.
Actually, it was "the Wii", not "your Wii". It's not really quite as funny that way, unfortunately.
They'll need to release Dr. Mario on the virtual console for my mom to play. ;)
Retro gaming is bigger in Japan, so I guess they have more staff working on converting their games. I hope we get more soon over here, though. If they can keep up with 10 per month, I guess that will be OK.

And I'm sorry you don't feel like it's a good deal. But as I said before, there are plenty of other people who do think it's a good deal. Are we just being hypnotized by the hype? I guess time will tell. Not fanboys, not critics, not industrial prognosticators, just time.
