Could someone explain to me how a ton of so called gamers are saying that this is just smoke and mirrors.
I am not a top technical guy but even I can see how this could can make a game more impressive, graphically as well.

Having a choice will just make it exactly like the last Kinect. Not enough people will have it for developers to justify making an effort with it. Take a look at Sonys Move controller, a good set up but developers totally ignoring it.

By offering an X1 without Kinect you will get the exact same problem as with the Kinect and 360. Not enough incentive for devs to make the effort with Kinect as there's only a much smaller percentage who have it.
I am very happy that Kinect is included.
The X1 will just be a PS4 without Kinect. It will basically be a souped up 360. No bad thing for some I admit but I think that including Kinect from day one will make a huge difference further down the line.

I really can't agree with your comment the PS4 still does more for less.
Having Kinect mandatory gives the X1 a ton of extra possibilities. From day one out of the box the X1 will definitely be able to do more than the PS4. Now that is a fact.
The funny thing is, I absolutely loved Kinect. I enjoyed Kinect sports 1, table tennis being my favorite and I enjoyed Kinect sports 2, the golf game and darts were great and I have played them to death.
I have found Kinect great for listening to music and watching film trailers, just saying 'next' is great while laying on the sofa.
I think that from the beginning I understood what I expected and didn't expect Kinect to be able to do.

Kobe, most generations have done this exact thing. Get millions of consoles out there and make a ton of money selling games etc.
Shareholders etc could equally love an aggressive stance as much as they wouldn't.

I am happy Kinect is there from day one, it adds tons of possibilities that Sony will not be able to match.
In your world its less powerful but in a lot of peoples world the X1 is more powerful.

I can change TV channels with voice.
I can talk via video on Skype.

HDMI input is a great plus point and so is the cloud going to be great.
I can bet good money that if Microsoft didn't include Kinect with the X1 OR changed the X1 so that you can unplug Kinect, people will soon find yet another reason not to buy the console.
