When compressing, you can reduce quality in order to save MORE space (Lossy Compression). Or you can compress without losing quality which wouldn't save as much space (Lossless Compression).
I think that's just it.
Edit: Look at this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Its a little hard to understand but try your best. lol
I remember once, a few years back, when I was doing a bit of video editing. I made a video (not HD resolution though) in uncompressed form and compressed form.
When I compared the two, they were the same. Why is that then?
No, this is hardly true.
Video and Audio quality is hardly lost with good compressors.
You should say: "Longer times to load compressed files than uncompressed."
Remember, video and audio files are digital. That's why with good compressors hardly anything is lost.
Edit: And I don't think Blu-Ray will become niche until 1 or 2 years. Not many people know what Blu-Ray is. But everyone knows what DVD is. DVD won't die till another 3-4...
I mean Kojima wants to make all the audio lossless and uncompressed so imagine loads more-than-HD audio files. Of course it would take a lot of space.
Look at Mass Effect. Imagine how much audio it has but it can still fit on a Dual layer DVD because it is compressed.
I think Kojima wants MGS4 to win best sound game of 2008 or something.
There is hardly any difference between lossless uncompressed audio and HD-codec compressed audio.
Hopefully, it will still work with future updates.
I don't understand why Nintendo will want to block the Freeloader if it isn't illegal to use!
In my opinion RE4 was the best. I did miss that pre rendered creepy visuals and scary camera views but I did hate the controls. The problem with RE4 was that it wasn't scary. The beginning was a bit creepy but then afterwards it didnt feel scary at all. They need to bring back the horror of Resident Evil 1 into Resident Evil 5.
It was blatantly going to have a sequel.
The ending practically told us that. I actually like the story's potential
A bit of Matrix mixed in with DaVinci Code
Can't wait
YES. Its out... finally...
Now I can get US version of NO MORE HEROES (Bloody version)!
But I'd rather get the PAL version of SSB Brawl since i want to play online on that.
Rock and Boom
I am just wondering what graphical enhancements Gears 2 will have.
Gears of War was easily the best looking game of 2006.
I wonder if its sequel might be the best looking game of 2008
I can tell that Digital Downloads won't be taking over till maybe in another 5-10 years.
People love discs especially DVDs. We won't see DVDs being thrown out of the market for a couple of years, I guarantee. But I should say:
This is the only time for Digital Downloading to enter the mass market and dominate. Otherwise Blu-Ray will snatch that position.
Personally, I'd rather have discs (Blu-Ray) since they are portable and contain so much space.
lol, you have a point. MS's only weaknesses is DVD9 and RRoD.
I understand people's points about having devs work hard on one platform than to be lazy for multiplatform.
But lets look at GTA IV when it comes out. If it is an amazing game then you have nothing to complain about since the devs worked on both platforms and did a good job.
Even though EA is famous for having lazy devs, look at Call of Duty 4. It was made by the Call of Duty 2 team and they managed to make both versions beautiful.
Is why people WANT IT TO BE EXCLUSIVE.
It's almost like they want other consoles to flop or something. As long as your version isn't ported is there anything to complain about?
Some people are so selfish.
Sony fans fighting with each other.
*sings* IF YOU CAAAAAAAN'T BEEAAT 'EM! THEN JOOOOIIIN 'EM!!! *sings*
Heh, graphics surpass the PS1 version.
So next gen phones are more powerful than the PS1.
Wow how sad can people become.
Sony is working hard to give us Home for free and you are fustrated that its taking long. You guys need to grow up and be patient for once in your lives.
hmm...
But anyway, I think it wouldn't take much to time to decompress with next-gen (this-gen lol) console technology.
But anyway back to MGS4, I don't think (losslessly) compressing the sound in MGS4 would make much difference. Maybe Kojima should do that instead of complaining about 50gb of space. lol
