Well considering just one garnered more interest than an entire event, that's pretty damn good going.
Though just to give an idea of how popular the Zelda series is and your question has gotten me curious, so i did a little searching:
From 14th November - 14th December, the amount of retweets were as follows:
Uncharted - 92,854
The Order:1886 - 15,218
Project Morpheus - 3,888
Bloodborne - 30,744
Street Fighter V - 44,899

Although this kind of retailer exclusive stuff isn't anything new, it's still annoying. Especially when it's something as trivial as an extra mission, outfit or something else which is just downloadable content. That kind of stuff irks me the most because there is no need for it other the fact it gets more people into the store.
If i were to give a reasoning behind Amiibo retailer exclusivi...
Just put some gigolo's in the game and all arguments on equality are moot.
Sad part about it all though, if it's true that is, is that it's releasing in 2016 -.- The news is coming in the February Issue of GI and supposedly, they also have an interview with the creator, Shigesato Itoi. He has said that the Mother story is complete and a sequel is impossible: http://goo.gl/1aRfqq
So it will be interesting to see what he has to say. If it's true that is.
Though with the recent acknowledge...

I was really surprised by Earthbound. I am not much of an RPG fan, no matter how much i would like to be able to get into them but they just don't click with me for some reason. This game on the other hand, i bought on a whim to see what all the hub-bub was about and finished in literally 3 sittings. The first was about 16 hours long and i loved every second of it. The characters, the world, the gameplay and the story were all beyond my expectations and loaded with that old charm you don&...
It is a completely ridiculous idea for a character. I'd rather pick a character which is realistic and serious like Gon the dinosaur, Kuma the Polar bear, Roger the Kangaroo and his son, Roger Jr. Oh and lets not forget Devil and the ingeniously named panda bear character; Panda.
Why can't they just keep giving us the same believable characters we're use to, why change anything. It's clear that modern gamers don't like change or a challenge any more, especially in ...

"How about they work on catching up to modern day gaming standards"
Like what?
Like buying a game on disc and then having to install it on a console before you can even play it? Something that PC's had to do back in the 90's..
Like, being forced to pay for an online service which is having constant problems? Yet you're still forced to play on P2P servers. Where's that money going to exactly?
Like rel...
I can't be nice any more. You are just as fanboy and an idiot. Please..go play your PS4 and your Vita...playing games that were released last year but now they have added P's!
You're wrong about everything you said.
There is no forcing going on. Its down to a consumer whether they want the Amiibo or not. With the fact they're selling out everywhere and are selling for thousands online, it seems they are doing well. Must be all those 10 year olds and their weekly pocket money.
Meanwhile, forcing people to pay to get online (when it works that is) with the internet they're already paying for, to play the game they just b...
Ooooh you're so edgy!

Don't just assume everyone who doesn't like the look of this game is nothing but a troll or has "childish excuses".
The A.I looks pretty dumb for start considering they seem to just stand there and miss with a shotgun at point blank range. Only to crouch down in front of the player and in return get shot in the head which was something i saw at least twice in the video.
How's about when an enemy character was just standing there and then went through a QT...
Either people didn't watch the exact same video i did which i just described, or fanboys are pathetic, petty children.
You want to tell me im wrong then tell me and lets talk through it. Don't just be brainless corporation-drones who will lick arse just because they're told 'that's where chocolate and magic comes from'.
Because fanboys on all sides are pathetic, petty children.
On topic though; this game does seem like it's been over-hyped when looking at the gameplay. For the first 30 seconds it was "hide behind counter - stand up - shoot - hide behind counter - stand up - shoot - hide behind counter - Shoot from behind counter."
Which seemed like it was pointless because just running up to an enemy and pressing a button puts you into "auto takedown" mode. Th...
I guess it's because it was a teaser at an awards show which covered the entire industry rather than just Nintendo. If you put a full Zelda demo on stage then that is completely going to over shadow the awards show which would just be stupid.
It was essentially a demo world (like they did at E3 with Skyward Sword) and off-screen yet it's all anyone is talking about. Dragon Age won game of the year last night, i haven't seen anyone care about that. You put on a full E3 styl...

Sorry...Consider it hyped!
Looking at the bottom of it though, it seems as though it has slight section cut out. Kind of like a bloated Batman symbol which is just...tits. Big fat Oprah tits. A redesign is cool and all, probably means that dual gamepad games are on the way which is so exciting.
Still, i wouldnt mind if the gamepad could be used without having to turn the WiiU on. We get updates and adverts from the eshop when the consoles turned off so why not make it so i can display a clock, random MiiVerse ...
